There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 RT Servicing and Issues

For all of you that have a 2014 RT model .......Took my bike in for the first servicing at 3,000 miles. Had a couple of issues with my bike: 1. Stalling after warmed up. After riding and stopping for food or gas and turning the bike off I would restart. I put the bike into first gear or reverse. The bike would go "clunk" and shut down. 2. Start switch sounded like it just didn't want to engage. It would turn over but reluctantly. Checked the battery and it was charging. 1. My bike was a January 2014 delivery and one of the first. Apparently BRP has a service bulletin out about this stalling issue (unbeknownst to me and I have been dealing with this issue for several months). There is a software fix. Fixed and done. 2. The start switch issue was due to the + and - terminals being loose. I had checked the battery for charging and it was but didn't think to check the terminals. Fixed and done. OK another issue. There have been many reports about the "soft" 2014 tires and fast wearing on the rear tire. I have barely 2,900 miles on Wildfire and the dealer says I will need a new tire very soon. Ridiculous. I noticed on my last twistie ride before coming down to Florida that the rear tire was sliding a little on some of the twisties. Well when I get back to Maggie Valley I will take the bike in for a new rear tire. Central Florida Power Sports is a first rate dealer and they fixed everything and serviced the bike in less than 4 hours. Wildfire is ready to rock and roll!!!

2014 Issues

I would suggest that you replace the rear tire with a Kumho auto tire or other auto tire of the same specs. You will get a lot better mileage than with the Kenda. I replaced the factory Kenda after 10,000 miles with the Kumho on my ST-S. After 4,500 miles, no appreciable wear at all. Other riders have said they are getting 20,000 miles or more on the Kumho.

Glad to hear they have it up and running. There were some quirks with those that received early or even "delayed" delivery. Dealer should have caught the bulletin on the stalling and solved it at delivery time.

Early tires had the "softer" rubber. Mine delivered in Apr and I got 8,900 miles compared to my usual 15K. Others also have reported much less on their tires. 4500 - 6000 on a lot of them.

Hoping you get lots and lots of miles now that you did the 3,000 mile service.

Glad to hear that you are satisfied with the service. I am at a little over 2800 miles and will be getting my first service in about a week. Surprised that you don't have more miles on your RT, especially considering the area that you live in. We have a group going to Maggie Valley 6/10-6/14. Hope we can see you there.

there are quiet a few better choices than the "substandard" Kenda.... the latest batch are junk ... for a tire priced right at $180 they sure are not worth it..

I would love to meet up and ride with you when you are in Maggie. There are so many great rides in the area. My husband and I rode a great deal last summer. Remember mountain riding doesn't put the the miles on a bike as distance riding does. A 50 mile ride in the mountains can take you 4 hours!!!

I agree. When we do our annual trip, we get all we can out of that beautiful area. Typically we try to do about 300 miles each day. That makes for 900 miles of smiles over the 3 days of riding. There will be 2 spyders in our group this year, and possibly more.

Any place in particular you will be riding this year? I assume you have done all the usual such as the Dragon and Bridal Veil Falls, etc.

We do those each year, and the cherohola skyway. They never get old. I will start a post in the NC section in a few days.

I now have the BRP Bulletin for this issue and reads as follows: "Roadster 2014 Engine Stall When Shifting After Restart (SE6 only). " Problem: The following shift sequences can provoke an engine stall after the engine has been restarted (more common when engine is at operating temperature). N to 1, N to R, R to 1, 1 to R. The situation is caused by a software issue. In the event a customer complains of this issue update the TCM. Warranty applies.
