There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 RT models... any gas smell?

No particular reason for the question, but it popped in my head, and I haven't seen it asked here yet, sooo... All you lucky new 2014 RT owners: any gas smell with the new bikes?

Relax a bit..!!

if there were you will hear about. If there were it would probably appear later on after many fill ups. As we have seen many cases were due to overfilling filling to fast etc. Have not seen anything on mods to the evap canister system but who knows...

The RT's evaporative canister has been moved to a location, where I'd think it nearly imposssible to get fuel in it by overfiling...

Thanks everybody for the feedback. My intent wasn't to jinx anybody here, just satisfying my curiosity.

May the good fortune continue!

You can see it's new location in this picture... PIMS NYC 012.jpg I know that it's bit dark, but it's sitting just under that rear frame strut; just to the rear of the tank!

Wrong on the many fill ups comment. Mine was BAD on the ride home from the dealer after purchase. Darn near rescinded the deal and had them pick the bike up. The problem is NOT with overfilling. It is an undersized, poorly designed vapor recover system that cannot cope with the amount of heat being put into the fuel tank less than 2 inches from bare exhaust pipe.

I can report now that since Sunday when I completed my updates, my 2013 is without gas fumes. I rode to work yesterday and sat in traffic for 90 minutes going home. If it was going to fume, that would have done it. Time will tell, but I think the heat and fumes on the 13s is a solvable problem. BRP needs to step up and fix it for the rest of the 13s. I think mine is fixed.

One more piece of important information on the 13 canister. Mine was not full of fuel when removed so it was not an overfill causing the fumes on my bike. In fact has not even a whiff of fuel smell in its now dormant shelf state.

But it IS true, that overfilling has great potential for causing the fuel smells also...
...probably due to a poor design... :D
(Since nobody in here seems to want to take the blame for anything...)

Not only have I not smelled gas fumes (have that issue with my 2012), but it is much easier to fill the tank to the top on the 2014.

I have never experienced the gas smell on any of my :spyder2:'s. It is good to see that so far, it is not an issue at all on the 2014's. I would say things are looking up.

I have over 2500 2014 RT miles already and not only NO GAS SMELL, but also find the tank easier to fill.. I don't get the constant splash back and early shutoff when I try to fill a near empty tank
