• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RT Limited ran in limp mode to dealer

Took my 2014 RT Limited (with 106 miles) to the dealer this morning. Started it up Wednesday to show off how bright the lights on the bike were but there were no lights at all. Then after stopping and starting a couple of times the lights were dimly flickering while the bike was running. Turned the bike off and you could tap anywhere on the bike and the back lights would flicker on/off each time you tapped the bike. While sitting in the garage running bike went into limp mode. Moved bike out of garage for the night incase of it starting on fire but the problem ceased.

Took it to the dealer today with no tail lights except for turn signals and the backup lights came on. In and out of limp mode the three miles to the dealer. Had two lights flashing on the right side of the dash but not sure what they were. The check engine light was on part way as well.

Dealer said they would get to it as soon as they could.

Anyone else had a problem like this?

I have a trailer hitch, center running/brake light and XM radio as extras on the bike.

The entire rear end is connected by 2 connectors under the left passenger handgrip. My bet is something there is not fully connected and causing an intermittent connection. Hopefully your dealer will have no issues find this since it is reproducible.

Sure hope it is that simple. Only problem is the Service Dept is covered up right now so I'm not sure how long it will be until they get to it. I certainly will make a phone call to the boss man with the "heads up". I just have to wait until Tuesday when he gets back from vacation.

Thanks

Definitely...
Let them know where you've been in the wiring, and what you've done in there...
It'll give them a starting point...
Good Luck! :2thumbs:

the second ride i took on my 14 rt it went into limp mode getting onto a parkway, lucky no one hit me. than it went right back to normal and never happened again

Yea.... including BIG NAMES with videos telling you so.....

Spyder is a great machine but expect some to come out the door with issues. No "human touched" assembly like at the dealer will be 100%. But if your dealer knows anything, they should be able to resolve any issues. I cringe when I hear people go to a dealer only to get an answer of "that's how it works" or "we don't know". One reason I do my own service where I can!

Curious..!!

dud you do any work on the electrical..?? Especially those led's will give you headaches. Even the best have faultered. Now that it is at the dealer they should find the problem but for sure it is an electrical connection somewhere. Let us know how this all turns out...!!

All work was done by the dealer before I picked it up except the trailer hitch. I had to take it back for that to be done when the trailer came in but they have done all the work.

That is a good thing and it probably means that they did something that caused your problems. I would hope that they would put you at the top of their list and work on it right away.

The problem is that the dealers aren't anywhere near perfect. This really sounds like something that his dealer did installing the extra lights and trailer harness.

They stepped up to the plate putting me to the top of the list and fixed the wiring problem caused when the trailer hitch wiring dropped down to the belt and ripped loose some wiring.

We are back on the road in less than 24 hours.

Thanks for all the comments.
