• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. No, this engine was developed for the Spyder. The confusion may come from that the design was based on what BRP calls ACE (Advanced Combustion Technology). Same technology used in a different engine. Snowmobiles don't use gearbox transmissions built into their engines.
It is based upon those four-stroke triples...
but it's been in the works and getting street-testing for the past three years...

RE: Service Intervals: Longer than on previous models--hence the comments about less maintainece costs.

RE: Experience out there: Other than prototype information, many are still waiting to pick up and start driving their machines--once the dealer's get them. It's going to take three to four months till we have some good information covering a few thousand miles of actual operation.

1330 mainteance

The 1330 engine is a variation of the motor that came out of a sea doo. Its been around for years and is very reliable. It will run for hundreds of thousands of miles! Just maintain it as required.

did not know that.
Can you tell us what model Seadoo it came from?

I see that this older thread (from 10/2013) has been resurrected. Interesting to see the comments.

I bought mine in April 2014. That's when we get the "new" ones here.

Turns out the 1330 was as advertised. I have 28,000 miles on mine now and other than headlight burnouts, there have been no mechanical issues.

The 1330 is now the "fleet" engine of choice for BRP.

I don't know about Seadoo, but IIRC at the time it was acknowledged the ACE family of motors was from their quad division. :dontknow:

I do 5K oil/filter changes

I may be overly protective, but after break-in I do 5K oil and filter changes, and I do them myself. Doing an oil/filter change is an easy job, just take your time, follow the steps, and have a low profile oil pan to catch the oil. If you have a low profile pan you don't have to jack up the bike. Living in AZ I'm concerned about the heat and potential impact.
