There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2014 Right side grill for 2013 RT heat on the right foot

This question is for those of you who have installed the 2014 Right side grill on their 2013 blow torch hole. I did this without any modifications to my Spyder RT and it looks great but I am concerned that it won't allow for proper air flow. It seemed really great yesterday. I was riding in 100 degree heat and for about 10 miles it was working. I then noticed that the temp gauge was above the midpoint where it has always seemed to hover in the past. Should I have cut holes in the bottom to for this or not. If you have done this to your Spyder, could you respond with your observations and if you did anything else or not. I have had the recall work done and so far all of those concerns are gone. :ohyea:

Thanks for your help,
Charlotte

I put on on my 2013 RTL with no modifications. No hot air on my right foot, and no elevation in temperature on the gauge.

Cnl414, has your 2013 RT had the 'Heat Alleviation' recall work done?? If so, it'd have the biggish air intakes facing forwards under the mirrors, instead of the little 'winglets' over a vent flush in the tupperware.

It seems most who've had that done don't have the hot foot problem any more, & very few who add the 2014 RH Grille need or bother with putting any holes in it.

The hot air coming off the radiator has to have some place to go if you want it to work correctly. If you block off one exit for it you need to provide another exit for it. Here's what I did.

I thought the 2013 scoops were supposed to relieve the temperature problem?
The 2014 still has the open grill to allow air to exit out the right side.
You might consider Spyderpops block off plates to cover both openings, but you'll have to cut the cover underneath the bike to allow the heat to escape in a different direction.

Thanks to all for your help. I rode again yesterday and didn't notice any elevation in temperature this time. I will continue to watch it. I didn't make any modifications and have very little heat on my foot now. I'm so glad for this forum and all the help that can be found here.

Now with the recall done and the hot right foot solved I can enjoy riding even more.:dg1:

Happy riding to all!

I have a 2013 RT Limited with the same problem that you had. The dealer has done the heat recall on this spyder already.Your completed modification looks great, Which vendor did you use to purchase the 2014 Rt side grill ? When you cut out the area behind and under the radiator fan was there anything in this area to look for(not cut). I have not removed any Panels or tupperware as of yet.
Thanks for any help that you can pass on to me on this project.

I bought the grill from my dealer. The heat recall mod added some stuff onto the right underside cover so you should probably drop it loose before cutting the vent hole. I suggest you permanently remove left underside cover.
