There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Ten months old and 5th trip in due to failures.

1st trip day after picked up,bike due to wandering on the road. Told to loosen my grip after putting almost 30,000 miles on my RS. End result, recall for alignment.

2nd trip due to continued wandering. End result, bad ball joints.

3rd trip in due to VSS limp mode after several limp modes due to excessive heat issues. End result , fried brake switches due to extreme heat.

4th trip in due to BRP recall to place heat shielding. Bike still gets hot and can almost cook an egg where heat bellows out by handle bars.

5th trip will be this coming Saturday when dealer comes to pick up my Spyder. Did a ride to San Antonio last weekend for Texas Honor Ride. On way home had limp mode , turned bike off and let reset. This past Friday going to take bike to work but noticed a puddle of oil when I backed out the garage. Is this ever going to end?

i love my Spyder but this is unreal to have this many issues in less than a year. Purchased a 2014 Indian Vintage last weekend to be my primary bike for leisure. Will use the Spyder to ride across the street to check my mail and to the corner for milk only I guess. Really have no confidence in taking this bike on a long trip anymore. Not sure what the outcome will be. Only saving grace is my dealer is easy to work with and I know they will make good on BRPs faulty equipment. For everyone with a trouble free 2013, I envy you.

Really sorry to hear about the problems with your Spyder, hope to see you again at Spyderfest 2014.

Thanks Joe but think I am doing the Indian Rally in May next year. They have it at Indian Point close to Branson Mo.

There is something to be said about the whole "13" thing with bad luck. My 13 RT/S has been back 3 times since September, however a lot of my problem "can't be found" or I get the story "they are all that way" I'm headed to Lamont's this weekend (weather permitting) to get the laser alignment done to see if that fixes my "road wandering" problem. Still waiting on answer for the heat issues from BRP....

Twain....so sorry to hear this bad news, again.....this 2013 is bad luck....good that you and dealer, Mancuso get along.....an oil leak....not good...limp mode...not good...if you need anything...to and from....I'm here...call me

Sorry to hear of all your bike issues, I only have like 900 miles so far and hope these things don't arise. Being my first bike ever, I think if I start having such issues I would probably sell it and never return to the motorbike world myself.

Posted earlier, but changed my mind. Very sorry to hear about all your issues with the 2013. There have been some that just seem to have everything that can go wrong with them. Almost want to refer to them as Murphy bikes. As in Murphy's Law.

Truely hope that they can get the issues solved on yours and that you can begin having a positive experience with your :spyder2:.

all good 2013

I am so sorry to hear about yer RT having so many friken issues!
All I can say is at 4100 miles on 2013 RT-S I have had no issues.
Again Im wth bya on these probs and see where it leads in the end.

Wow - sorry about your bad luck with the Spyder. I am having a problem with mine - but NOTHING like what you are having. Keep on top of it, and trust your dealer to fix it.

Have you started a case with BRP? If not I would ask your dealer to send all info to BRP and I would call them once that is done to see if they will give you an extended warranty on the bad luck Spyder. I would tell them the story about getting the Indian and what you plan on using your Spyder for since you cannot trust it for any road trips.

Good Luck!!

Sounds like

Is it time to cross your fingers and hope this machine starts on fire, unoccupied?

Dealer called me today. Bad water pump seal gasket. Think I have seen others go bad on here. Anyone with any idea why might go bad so soon? Thanks

It is a weakness with this particular engine design in both the Spyder and the Aprilia. There is a service bulletin that covers it. No sure fix available, but if the leakage can be kept to a few drips, I wouldn't worry about it. There is a reason that they put a weep hole at that location. If it is more than an occasional drip, have the seal and shaft replaced as outlined in the service bulletin.

Thanks Nancystoy, it is definitely more than a drip. Spot was several inches across. Dealer ordered parts today so hopefully after Thanksgiving will have it done.

2013 limited problems

Brought this 2013 spyder this past may. Have 1900 miles on it. So far the left switch cluster has been changed [2 visits], front trunk [latch 3 visits], power steering assist [1 visit]. All were fixed. MPG bad. Big heat problem around fuel filler area, Checked temp today with laser temp meter, around 176 degrees the other side at 200 degrees. The really bad news. Talk to dealer about trading for 2014, Only a $11,000 dollar difference. So everyone thanks to BRP all of the pre 2014 spyder will take a really big cut in value.
