There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2013 Spyder...

Cancelling Turn Signal

akspyderman is spot on...pressing the turn signal buttion for a second or two will cancel the turn signal without turning on the other (direction) signal...try it, you'll like it!!

I didnt even think it was a second or two. Just pressing the the turn signal button in and releasing it has always turned the signal off for me. Isnt that what you're supposed to do? :hun:

Would have to have some awesome improvements for me to upgrade. More horse power, bigger fuel tank and a better way to cancel turn signal . All that being said I can live with the HP and smallest gas tank but the turn signal needs some work .

Whats wrong with the turn signal? Mine switches off automatically after completing the turn. When I switch lanes I push the turn button in (to switch it off) instead of switching it left-to-right or vice-versa.

HTH.

gpthree- for some, me included, cancelling the turn signal when making less than a full turn i.e., when making a lane change, proved to be somewhat of a challenge. More times than not either the same turn signal stayed on after a quick press of the turn signal button or the opposite turn signal came on. It has been posted a few times that holding the button in for a second or so will cancel the signal without fail. If you haven't had a problem cancelling the turn signal then suggest you continue doing what you do. If at some point you find the signal not cancelling you might try this technique.

More HP than what?

The RS is 106 stock. RT is 100 stock.

I wouldn't expect an ST version to be more powerful than the RS.

I guess i was thinking of other sport touring bikes. But likeley would be based on the RSS with removable luggage. I can always dream of more power. I have not had mine RT long but would jump on a more powerfull Spyder. 150+/- hp might be in the range... I still think of my FJR often. Dont get me wrong love my rt but everything i have can always use more power :). Thats why i swapped a V10 into my f150 a few years back.

I do not understand the whole more power thing that people want with the spyder. This engine with its rated horsepower is more than enough.
All I can see happening is people would get more horsepower and then start beefing about poor fuel mileage and small gas tank. If
people want a sport bike then buy a sport bike.

All I know is there has been too many times to count where if johnny law were in the right place I would be walking, my bike on a flatbed and I would be facing huge fines. Yeah folks more power!! How about refining other aspects of the bike to match the power it already has? Thats my viewpoint ..............I'm done.

My dream engine would be a Honda 1800....... oh yeah!

It is fun to speculate, but really, it's a waste of time. The 13's are probably pretty much set in stone by now and it only remains to wait and see.

My question would be, how many will jump ship to the new model if it is a quantum improvement?
Having fun is never a waste of time lol! But I keep seeing pictures of the hybrid so where is it? It's in their brochures and in articles... Just saying it would be interesting.:chat:

My dealer who had locations in Que. told me last week that there will be a sport touring model but couldnt say more than that. Makes sense but it would need to have a serious HP bump to be a true sport touring. I assume it would have removable rear luggage like some sport touring bikes. So probably based on the RS?

Josh

seems thats the right one for me ;) ..hope they stay with the V2 - no reason to have a stronger engine

(today I start offering my RT - 17.000 mls perfect condition..)

Just going with more power would not make a sport tourer. It would have to have a bigger gas tank, GPS, Radio, and better vibration control. Also luggage would have to integrate well not just stuck on like the Givis. The windscreen could also be adjustable as on the RT's but shorter to start with. As far as colors there are two ways to go, technical graphics like BMW, KTM or artistic like the Moto Guzzi or Ducati. Colors would be sticking in any case. A leaning bike would e very interesting to some but I don't think there would be a mass exodus from the other models for it. Hum that could be good as it would bring in new riders from other two wheel brands.

Remember guys... when you start tinkering with the engine configuration, you've just changed everything! That Vee-Twin is very compact and makes pretty respectable power. Try stuffing the "Wing's motor in htere and the first thing that you'll notice is just how little room for your feet remains. Then you'veg ot the additional weight... and the redesigned SST frame that it'd take to hold all of it. :gaah:
I like the Vee-Twin configuration because it offers a very nice batch of compromises in order to optimize the vehicle.
Besides; they're already DEEP into production by now...

It would have to be one Hell of a deal for me to trade me 09 in . For right now Ill stay O.G and rock my GS . I am rather happy with it right now . I mean a color change would be nice but It would be a little $$$ .

We just bought our 2011 RT(new, Logan Utah--good people up there), and it was interesting to note how few used RT's there were out there offered up for sale. Says something about how much people like what they've got. This machine is primarily for my wife to ride to work in better weather, I'll likely have it when it's not so nice out. I've put some serious miles on my two wheels commuting, and there are a few things I'd change with the Spyder. The turn signal really would be better with some kind of tactile feel when cancelling it. And recess it forward a bit, so it's easier to get to without lifting your thumb so far. The machine would probably benefit from better cooling--my ST1300 is clothed pretty tight and it suffers in the heat too. I worry about all the mass in the windshield and it's hardware, I saw the picture of the broken support caused by a rough road. Ours rattles some just going up the street. And gas mileage? I'm getting right at 54 mpg and can easily go 300 miles on a tank with the 1300 (seven gallon total capacity). First check of our mileage on the RT (mostly two-up, though) showed 30. Odd to me also that the only storage on the Spyder big enough for a helmet is the frunk. I've had $178 worth of groceries from Sams on the ST, wouldn't attempt the same load with the Spyder. And the horn? I'm gonna ask the dealer if it will scare my warranty if I change that out! Might already be in trouble; I put a nice LED light bar across the trunk from Kewlmetal so she would be more visible. Maybe the dealer won't notice....

The right saddlebag will hold a full-face helmet.
