• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

NO, my air ride failed and it did not touch, when I went to Spyderquest in 2014 my shock had no damping and nothing rubbed, scrubbed or whatever. 19,000 miles on my Michelin 215/60/15.
 
I am running the General Altimax RT 43,Size 215/60R15 PSI 26.

The General Altimax RT 43 tire handles excellent on dry, wet, gravel, dirt roads. I do not get any hydroplaning. Here is the Performance evaluation:
WET:

IMHO if you overload or are near the MAX on any RT .........and don't have " sufficient " pressure in the rear air bag .....even the OEM KENDA is going to scrub........Also the MUD flap hitting the ground doesn't count as " scrubbing ". :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: ......Mike :thumbup:

It was the mud flap bolts scrubbing the tire. The 215 is larger in diameter and as it swings through its suspension arc, its closer to everything and on some heavily loaded bikes, even with the air bag fully inflated....the tire rubs. Its easier to recommend and install a tire that does not and work well than to have customer complaints. If you are happy with your 215/60 great, run them. I do not sell and install them because of problems. The one we do recommend has no such issues and is a better tire with higher grip. Also not everyone runs a heavy RT. Tire grip matters on the lighter bikes.

I am planning to install a Toyo R888 on my F3 as a trial. Not recommending them yet and won't for the RTs but the F3 and RS are more traction limited.

What is this scrubbing? I have 19,000 mies on a 215/60/15 on my RT and no Scrubbing?


Lets just say some of my customers that ride 2 up are heavier than others. The 215/60 has caused problems on several. The Yoko 205/55 works perfectly. Oh and in case you were wondering, the 205 Yokohama actually as more tread width on the road than the General 215. Yoko sport tires run wide and flat with fairly squared off shoulders. Look at the photos Finless posted.

There is no doubt that the General 215/60 runs great for many of you. Just letting the group know that its not always the case. I dare say I have a bit of experience across a wider selection of Spyders than most in this conversation. We recommend and install the Yoko as it just works. Every time with zero complaints.

I want the same size since i don't want to modify the bike to take a different size, mileage & all season handling are
important to me. i would consider vee rubber if i was sure they are a good quality tire. when buying a tire i always
say price should be number 2 or 3 but never the number 1 reason for buying it.

That's why I put a Kumho tire on my RT. It checks off all of those boxes nicely! :thumbup:
(Unless the whole, "Motorcycle Tire Only" thing has you spooked...)

The Yokohama is the same diameter as the stock size and less than 3/16 inch narrower. The size numbers are nominal, you have to compare actual tire dimensions. The Yoko is also a better rated tire and much higher quality of manufacture. There is no negative, no changes to the bike, its calibrations or speed indications. NONE. Its an exact replacement with better specs.

I tried to order a new kumho rear tire and was told I can't sell it to you because Can-Am won't let us sell to Spyder owners. But they can sell it to you if you have a vehicle that the tire will work on or a homemade trailer that uses 15" wheels.
