2013 Spyder 156hp is it possible?

Hello,

I just read an add with a 2013 Spyder 990cc engine, 156hp and I wonder if this can be done and how. Remap the ECU, turbo kit added or what.

thx

If the hot rodders can get 500+ horse power from a Hayabusa------ then its possible, not pretty though.

These Rotax 998cc engines are used in other 'non-Spyder' applications with better numbers than that straight out of the box; so YES, even with not much more than an air intake & exhaust upgrade plus a good ECU map upgrade, it's certainly possible to achieve that sort of output! :ohyea:

However, given the above, I'd expect somewhat better results from a well thought out turbo installation!

 OH ya turbo, gag the nanny, tire burning rocket!!! Slick, wheelie bar******!!! Hew, I am alright now,,,,,:yikes:

Aprilia got over 130 HP from the 998cc Rotax in their Tuono and the 995cc Ducati twin is 155 HP, so 156 is certainly achievable with some hotter cams, free-flowing intake and exhaust, a good ECU tune, some judicious cylinder head polishing and porting, larger valves, and balancing and blueprinting internals to allow higher RPMs. Or a small turbo, free-flowing exhaust, and a tune would get there as well. I'd be more inclined to just start with a more potent existing engine and find a way to make it fit.
