There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2013 RT LTD Recall

Just letting the spyder community know the 2013 RT is being recalled to do 3 things:

1. Replace 2 fuse boxes
2. Reprogram the ECM
3. Replace the belt guard

I was not told by the dealer exactly what was being corrected or improved upon by these replacements...

Well..!!

if you have it done let us know what difference does it make. I know there was an issue with the fueses and relays coming loose and the beltguard loosing bolts but the ecm is anybodys guess but may have to do with the heat issue...:dontknow:

I believe that the proper wording is a "service bulletin" has been issued not a recall. They come from the NHTSA. But whatever it is called I hope that it fixes the heat issues.

You are correct about 1. and 2. but they are not replacing the belt guard just replacing the bolts that hold the belt guard on.

My thanks to the spyder community

Thanks to my spydermates, these issues were part of a "service bulletin", not a recall...

In my original thread I repeated what the dealership General Manager said to me when he stopped me at the dealership and told me they needed to get me in for a "recall"...so he obviously did not have complete command of what was going on...they lost their top notch Can Am salesman about 3 months ago...so it was not really unusual I received some confusing information..

Thanks for the help in clearing this up..I am looking forward to see what changes if any I get from the ECM changes....will post if I notice anything...

great riding to all !!!!!

As I said in a similar thread, I had the service bulletin performed, and it is running much smoother now. They did nothing but perform the service bulletin. Would this cause my spyder to run smoother?

With the reprogramming of the ECM it included, it certainly could.

Took the wife's in today for the work. Service Manager said the ECM update would prevent a common stalling when taking off problem and shouldn't have any impact on the heat issue.

Anyone have any info on whether or not the reprogramed ECM has effected the mileage? I'm presently waiting on parts and dry roads!

And mine said it was for the 1614 code although I have read elsewhere it is to address the bog on take off issue too which mine has been doing once in a while.:dontknow: I got a little better 1mpg on the way home but SOTP it seemed to run smoother and I did wind it up a bit more on the return trip.

Very possible that it was the mapping. Like many things we don't know we have an issue till we fix it, then its like WOW we had an issue!!

Service bulitin

Had mine done as it was in the shop as my throttle went out on New Years Eve . No Polar Bear run for us this year . Been to nasty to ride anyway and we were waiting for a trailer hitch to come in . Went home for the weekend and picked it up as we were going into withdrawls. Went up to the dealer with the Club to gawk and drool on the 2014s . Hitch wasn't in still so we rode it home anyway. After the 140 mile ride home we weren't done yet so we evened it out to 200 . I noticed a difference but as we only had 1800 miles on it, it's hard for me to really compare . The ball joints recall had never been done buy the dealer we bought it from and Pro Caliber did that also and that was the biggest change that I noticed . As for a heat issue I have not had any issue from day one and we rode in 80-90 degree weather in September when we first got it. I did not check my MPG on this last run but we have averaged 30-32 since we got it.
But I drive the speed limit also . This summer we are planning on some long rides and that should tell us more.
