2013 RT limited ball joints

Purchased RT in Feb. rode a week or so before I could keep it in one lane. After reading all I could about being a newbie to the spyder. I finally got to were I was comfortable riding my new machine. It still didn't feel just right so I called dealer about recall on ball joints and was told that my spyder was not on the recall list. After 4600 miles my tires were wearing on inside edge. I called my dealers service dept. and ask about alignment and I was informed my spyder was due a recall on the ball joints. So I made an appointment for alignment, ball joints and 4600 mile service. I also had a problem with the machine stalling at stop lights after warming up. When the service was complete they still didn't do an alignment. I was told my spyder Was not on a recall list for an alignment. Also nothing was done about the stalling issue I was told there were no codes in the computer however he had heard this before and I could leave it. I live 225 miles from this dealer that is why I was there when they opened and prepared to stay all day. I own a business also and if some one had spent over 30,000 dollar on a machine and extra warranty plus a service plan I would have done alignment to please my customer. I love the machine but we need better service departments with more knowledge. I will say all the folks at the dealership were very nice just not willing to take the time to take care of problems.

People this has to stop. BRP needs to slap the dealer with some sort of fine when this happens. I am so mad that my ears are red. Damn near every RT that is a 2013 needs the front fixed. Dealers just don't want to accept this. :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead:

I have to walk away from my computer. Im sorry for the ugly word but I just don't have the schooling to convey my temper any better.

Tony99, call BRP tomorrow and tell them what you posted here, and tell them you want to start a case # for a fix !!!!!!!!

My 2013 RT is in the shop today and I called to see what they found and was told that mine handles better than their demo RT. The service tech and one of the owners took it for test rides and both concurred that it handled better than their RT. :banghead:

I must have had the best handling 2010 RT ever made because it handled so much better than this one. I could ride with 1 finger on the handlebars in stiff crosswinds passing a semi at 80 and not get blown around. This one wiggles more than a rubber snake on a stick!

I'm going to take their 2013 demo for a ride tomorrow.

New ride

My handling is great now, however; very boring. I had gotten pretty good at riding with the bad ball joints, but now I am so relaxed I almost fell asleep on the trip home. I just hope it doesn't continue to wear front tires

did they do the alignment? If they didn't Im betting you still have tires that are wearing. Ball joints wont cause the edges to wear. It will cause you to fight it. I have had bad ball joint in my hand and I have put 2 in a new RT. They dont cause the bike to tow out or in. Just the steering to be tight.

No they would not do an alignment which was unbelievable for the amount of money we spent on these machines

We got our Spyder RT-S 2013 at the beginning of June and have noticed issues with wobble at high speeds. We were informed by our service tech not to drive it at high speeds until it can be serviced next week as it could be an alignment issue (I noticed when following my husband driving it that the front tires lean inwards putting the wear and tear on the inside of the tires). The service tech assured me that all recall changes were already taken care of before we took possession but will check everything next week. So now we wait to see how it goes and if they actually fix the issue or just perform lip service. We understand that it can also be driver related as many riders grip the handlebars too tight causing issues but my husband and I come from very different riding experience and we both found the wobble issue at higher speeds (over 50mph).

Will let you all know how it turns out.

I'd suggest to head to another dealer because alignment on the 2013 ball joint issue is listed on the Service Bulletin, provided that replacing the ball joints did not suffice.
