2013 RT Elevated Temperature in Engine Compartment - Safety Campaign

Noticeable noise increase with intake, I never did have any of the heat issues I have read here - Only the right foot toe toaster vent deal.
Power seemed different but I also had some Bark added to it with the addition of an Akrapovic......Bike actually feels slower.....Maybe it's just Sneaky Fast now and I just don't realize it:shocked:

What new intake? There is nothing in the recall affecting the air intake. (other than its removal and replacement to get to the throttle body where the old pressure regulator is located.

Has anyone with cat-bypass received credit from BRP.:pray:

Its now on the list of items they specifically will not reimburse for, along with open element air cleaners.

So far, insulation including pipe wrap only. I was credited about $200 out of the nearly $900 spent on parts, no labor.

One aspect of the recall that many have overlooked is that they are adding insulation to the side panels near where your thighs and knees are.

Another is that additional maintenance items are now added to your schedule. The rear sprocket bearing now must be REPLACED each 28k miles along with the evap canister prefilter. Effectively moving the emissions component from warranty replacement to owner paid maintenance.

The bearings where a maintenance item before at 28k they just added the prefilter that they added to the EVAP system near the drain hose on the bottom right under panel.:thumbup:I am betting that is really a catch can for any condensed gas still occurring from air flow through the EVAP canister.

I called CFPS YESTERDAY, they do not have the parts yet. They said to call next week to check. Not sure if anyone else has the parts in the area. [emoji91]
My Spyder is in the shop now. They provided me a loaner and said they will call me tomorrow. I am enjoying the 2015 F3s! I will be the 2nd update to be done at CFPS.

What I STILL want to know, is if I go into my dealer for evap canister being over saturated and stinking (which is covered even without extended warranty) will they put on the new system??????????????

This is my only complaint with my 2011 RTS.
Hot days = canister stink in my garage. It just happened to me again today as summer is starting and it was 92.

Replacing the canister on your 2011 with the new one will not solve the problem. The root of the problem is the excess vapors overloading the canister in the first place. That is what the fuel system revisions are for. The current changes to the fuel system will not work on a 2011.

What MAY help is the scoops and ditching the inside panels. I got my 13 done today and after some bumper to bumper on the way home the tank was cool at the neck.It would be a good thing for BRP to offer the scoops to 12 and earlier models. JMHO

Sooo... has anyone thought ahead to cooler riding weather and hoped that BRP would have put in an adjustable partial block off on the front of the new scoops and an adjustable directional vent on the back of the new scoops so the ryder can direct warm air back to stay warm?!? :roflblack:

You know me... always thinking ahead (and oddly)

I do NOT believe that is true.... The fuel system changes I am pretty sure have nothing to do with the Evap changes!

The Evap changes are pretty significant and should apply to all Spyders. So this time I disagree with you.

Rear sprocket bearing ? I don't think I understand how that fits in here.

 We DID have some 2014 riders complain about the LACK if heat available for riding in chillier weather... :D

When you get the recall letter there is a sticker in it to put in your owners manual. It replaces the current 28k suggested maintenance section and expands it from just the bearings to bearings and prefilter.

Read the NHTSA report on why they are doing the fuel system changes. I did not believe it as well until I read the details in the testing and the explanation of why the returned fuel was causing the problem.

Other than starting clean and adding a prefilter at the vent line, there is not much change to the evap system. There may be control differences to purge at lower RPMs but its not mentioned in any of the documentation.

Recall

Will drop my RTL at the dealer tomorrow and pick it up next Monday, they did not have a loaner available, (?) will keep you posted.:popcorn:

No those are valves and engine you are hearing now without the additional insulated panels removed IMHO. Yes there is a bit more noise if you rev it sitting still but I can't hear it on the road.
