There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Getting an occasional " brake failure" message on my 2012 Spyder RT. Fluid is full. Cleaned the brakes. Pads are good. 21,000 miles. Anyone know what it could be or what to check? Thanks!

Here's a list.....

1. Brake fluid even if it looks full...
2. Resivouir sensors...
3. Brakelight switch..sometimes sticking
4. Brake pads
5. Ryding with the brake applied (foot on the pedal)
6. Brakelight bulbs

Know you have already checked off some on the list...:gaah:

Right. You've noticed that the brake fluid reservoir slants down towards the front, but the sensors are in the rear of each chamber. So, it feels as if you're over filling the thing, but it has to be really full for the sensor to see the proper level. It definitely doesn't take much. So, double check that.

Thanks! I will check 👍

2012 RS....

My wife 2012RS did that a few times so far. But it was always while riding in the rain or after riding in the rain, and very humid air..... :dontknow:

Few times was even years apart.... so..... maybe flawky switch, border line sensor, ...??? it is the years apart part that confuse me. Does not seems to get worse.... and brakes always performing fine.

One detail. Rear brake rotor is slightly "out of round" by overheating before I installed springs to pull pads away from it. You can only feel it a very slow speed, when it is warmed up.....

Will see how/if it evolve. Will change rotor at next rear tire change.....

Yesterday Brake Failure

I rode up in the mountains as I was coming home on the down grades I would get a brake failure. Once I was on level ground I cycled the key and it went away.
when I got home I checked the reservoirs they looked full but I found you have to fill them right up in the neck to almost over flowing. the sensors are set to close

Something easy to check

How old is your battery ? Is it the original battery ? I got that message till I changed my battery, and all was fine after that.

Next time it comes up, check the code, if it's C0049, your brake fluid is low. Usually, 1 or 2 Tablespoons will take care of it.

So far this spring/summer I have had my 2012 RT-S in the shop 3 different time for Brake Failure coming on.
The first time I don’t remember what started it, but they flushed the system and put in new fluid.

The second time it came on after a hard stop because a woman pull out in front of me, and they adjusted the linkage per BRP instructions.

This time what started it was I was parked in my daughters’ drive, which is sloped, I was head in. so I got on, started the bike, stepped down on the brake and released the parking brake. When I did that the brake pedal sank, I thought it was going to ground. I immediately started pumping the brake because I didn’t want to go rolling out into the street at 20 mph with no brake. The bake pumped up ok but the brake failure indicator came on. The brakes worked fine, but can they be trusted. BRP told the shop this happens sometimes and the reading the codes showed a 1 time low pressure at about 1 mile per hour. There was a little more to the explanation but sounded like BS to me. The 2014 and newer will reset themselves if it it only happens once the older ones have to be manually reset, 2013 and older, so if it happens again I have to go to the dealer to get it reset. Needless to say I won’t be parking on anymore inclines

So I went to pick up my RT-S from the shop today and when they went to back it out, they started it , hit the switch to release the parking brake and it released but the indicator still showed it was on, and when they tried to move it the Brake Failure indication came back on, so they still have it to fix the 4th brake issue. Needless to say I am getting a little frustrated by all this and let them know it. :banghead:
