• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2011RTL Passenger floor board bolt problem

Problem: frozen mounting bolt RH side

Discovery: Installing my Seal floorboards one step called for moving the passenger foot boards to the top. One side came loose easily . The other was frozen so I took the BRP tool and applied an 8 inch adjustable wrench to it and only succeed in ruining both the tool and the bolt head.

Solutionn: has anyone got a solution for removing the bolt short of drilling out the center and using a easy out bit? Never have had good results from using easy outs!

Add BRP loves their bolts $11.99 USD for one chrome headed bolt.

First spray some PB Blaster on the nut. Sears makes ( and I am sure others too) a wrench that self adjusts. There are numerous sized ViceGrips too.

Impact..!!

spray liquid wrench or wd40, and let it soak in. If you have or can get a hold of an impact driver (air or hammer or electric operated) and use that to break the bolt loose. I have found that beating on them a bit before trying to loosen them helps a lot...now if that fails I too have little luck with easyouts when bolts are rusted or frozen. I drill through the whole thing till I can knock the bolt out. Then re-tap to clean the threads..good luck...

2011 RTL SE-5 solution to Passenger F/B Bolt

First off thanks to everyone that responded. The contrary bolt is out. The new one is in and I now have a used spare.

i ordered the correct replacement bolt and they called to say it was in (total time to arrive Tuesday PM to Fri AM) I picked it up on Saturday AM and the Service Manager stopped me and said "give me your key and the bolt! Ten minutes later the Spyder was in the driveway parking lot and we were on the way.

He told me what he did. It was quite interesting how he did it. Took a T-30 Torx socket and rounded out the damaged bolt head. Took a 5 MM hex socket and made the hole smooth. Then he took a T-40 socket and hammered it into the reworked hole cutting new grooves in it. Ratcheted the old bolt out and inserted the new one.

So there you have it and we all learned a new trick on repairing Torx screws or bolts.....
