• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2011 RT S SE5 Won't Start

I am a new Spyder owner and have encountered an issue that is new to me.

My wife and I were 65 miles away from completing a 400 mile trip when we stopped to eat. When we were done, I turned the key, waited for the Can Am screen to scroll away, pressed the mode button, flipped the switch, pressed the brake, pushed the start button and the instrument cluster started going haywire with the lights flashing. Bike would not start. Thought it may be the battery but the terminals are tight and the battery is charged (according to my charger).

Any suggestions as to what may be the cause and/or the solution?

...Loose groundstrap?? :dontknow:
If that's the original battery that's still in the bike; it's probably time to replace it anyway.

How much of a charge? 12.9 is very minimum. If it shows less than that it's not strong enough to start the Spyder. On the bright side, several people have had this happen before without further issue. It's an anomaly or gremlin if you prefer. You didn't say if you got it started.

2011 RT S SE5 Won't Start (Update)

OK, turns out that the battery was bad after all. Wilmington Power Sports replaced the battery and load tested it to ensure the charging system was operating.

Thank you for your responses.

I hit what I think is the same issue today on my 2012 RT-S. Is this what yours did?

This happened to me after filling up. Left me stranded at the gas station with the electrical system getting more and more out of whack, I couldn't reset the parking brake and it was even telling me the ABS and traction control systems were broken.

Called my my dealer that was about 2mi away. They came and it took TWO simultaneous portable jump starters connected to the battery for the bike to start and the warnings to disappear.

Note that this all happened 6 days after picking it up from the 600mi maintenance where they said the battery checked out fine. It's now sitting at the dealership again while they try and track down what happened. :(

Glad to hear that the source of your problem was found, and a fix was implemented! :2thumbs:

Low battery. Likely cause is a bad battery, but there could be other possibilities. Batteries can load test good one day and can suddenly be bad the next.
