• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. got message today on RT, ck DPS, then limp home........

called local dealer, he checked bulletins, nothing mentioned about 2011
having this problem..............:dontknow:

After you got the Check DPS and Limp Home Mode did the faults clear after the Spyder was shut off for a couple minutes? If so then it isn't an active fault and may have been caused by riding the brake. Could also be a poor battery connection. Have your dealer check the Spyder with BUDS and look at the fault history. Most of these faults on new bikes have been caused by loose battery connections, relays or problem with the steering angle sensor. But if your foot presses the brake pedal down enough to activate the brake light while riding you will also get this type of fault.

I agree that you should always check the battery connections first with a DPS fault. The DPS pulls a lot of juice. Howver, this problem is most often caused by steering sensors that are out of synch. The tech should have put yours on BUDS and checked the steering sensor zero settings instead of just looking up the bulletin. If the problem persits and he is stuck for a solution, he should call BRP dealer tech support for assistance.

My 2011 RT-Limited did the same thing. Was in a curve at about 60mph. Hit some rough road about half way through the curve. Enough bad road to cause the front and rear tires to bounce a bit. Got the Check DPS and limp home right after that. Pulled off to the side of the road, powered down. Powered up and all was ok. Dealer said it was probably just too many inputs from the sensors responding to the curve and rough road that caused the computer to put the bike in limp home. Whatever the case, it hasn't happened again.

This has been a persistant problem with my 2010 RT-S the last 3 months or so. First occured on my way back from Spyderfest and now re-occurs about every 2 to 3 weeks. Had fellow ridder following me last several times and NO. I wasn't ridding the brake. Checked the battery and it's tight at the terminals. Dealer resets the computer massage each time I'm in for an oil change and service. Problem almost always clears if I turn it off and wait a few minutes. The dealer has called BRP to see if it might be a software problem and NO. I have also called BRP and loged a complaint. Have nearly 20K miles on it now and the first 15K this never occured. My dealer is constantly backed up and wanted me to leave it for 2 weeks and I'm not going to do that this time of the year. Each time the "Check DPS" failure happens, I don't have any power steering and so far, I've been able to cope with that. It hasn't gone into limp mode yet with this. It may be winter when my dealer isn't so busy till I can leave it long enough for them to figure it out.

Same thing happened to me about two weeks ago powered down then restarted ran fine, just happened to be at the dealer the next day no codes stored hooked it up to B.U.D.S and the angle sensor was off.

What is it with these dealers. You pay $27,000.00 for a bike and they can't tighten up the battery cables. The Spyder dealerships scare me.

chk dps

i have the same symptoms. i will ask about the steering sensors,I have had numerous temporary warnings and i have only owned this rig a month. i had a kawasaki meanstreak for 8 years and it never went into the shop for anything
Do not get Me wrong i love driving this machine i just do not need to watch it bitch at me.:sour:

I posted this same problem a couple of months ago. Check DPS came on, I shut it off, removed the key, etc. It stayed on and I rode it home...75 miles. The next day I went to the dealer, 50 miles, it did no come on. Tech ran the BUDS and replaced a small magnet in the DPS system...a 10-15 minute job. Now with 3,000 more miles on BR1, no problem....

:spyder2:

I had a similar issue. After the limp home message, luckily I was only about 2 miles from home, I powered down and called my dealer. Went back out and restarted and the message was gone. I rode the the dealer and they replaced one of the angle sensors. Said the bracket was broken and this was a common problem with the Spyders. I queried them about whether this was going to be a persistent problem and they said they fixed it so it would not be. I have not had the issue any more.

Be sure to have your tech check the sensor alignments and brackets to make sure they are good.

Good luck on getting this resolved.

same issue

Same code. My wife was accidently riding with her foot leaning on brake pedal. Removed key, waited a few minutes, no problems since.
