There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. 2010RT just ran thru 1 quart oil/10 miles! - ANY IDEAS?

2010RT SE 38,000 miles runs great, always does, never consumes oil normally.

Just ran a quart of oil out the exhaust in less than 10 miles!

Engine seems fine as far as no missing or power, just the sudden oil consumption.
I believe it's just one cylinder, just starting to check into it.
ANY IDEAS WHAT IT COULD BE??
ANYONE ELSE SEEN THIS???

Pull the dipstick, smell and feel the oil. Does it smell of gas and thin? Possibly a bad injector dripping. I’ve seen this happen with other engines. The oil gets thinned to the point it will get sucked into the intake

Oil Consumption?

:chat:...Well, I know that the twin engines are a little more hungry for engine oil. What you are saying is 1 quart in 10 miles?
This is a real problem.

The engine must be blowing the oil out some where.
You stated that the oil was coming from the exhaust pipe.
Are you having a major oil leak?
What does it do when sitting on your driveway?
Engine running and just sitting?
Is there Blue Smoke?
Did you just buy the Spyder?

Need some more information please.

2019 RT high oil consumption

FWIW on my 2014 when on a trip it would sometime run through a quart in the first 3-400 miles and then would not use any for the rest of the trip. never smoked from the exhaust, just would intermittently quickly consume a quart of oil then stop.

I'm guessing the OP isn't checking the OIL level correctly ..... IMHO if that much Oil is passing through the engine I'm not sure the engine would even run ...... good luck .... Mike

:agree: There is that! Using the incorrect oil level reading method & or timing could well make someone not used to the idiosyncrasies of these motors & their oil level checking methods could well lead someone to erroneously think this, when it's really just a 'level reading issue' So Hedgehog, Are you sure this oil all disappeared in 10 minutes?? :dontknow:

These V-twin Rotax motors are renowned (& even designed... ) to use some oil between scheduled services, but most use about that much over a thousand miles or more.... So please, tell us what happened that shows it was used in just 10 mins - that rate of use sorta suggests a catastrophic failure somewhere?!? :gaah: Knowing what occured might help us help you; not knowing, & just seeing 'used a quart of oil in 10 minutes' pretty much leaves us guessing?! :dontknow:

Did you check the oil right after riding? If so, the oil did not have a chance to settle back into the storage tank yet and so the level would look low. If you're comparing the level to one you checked after the bike had been sitting for hours or days it will be lower.
