• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2010 Spyders?

If they are at a convention center then are they not on public display?
These were not on public display, these were taken on a loading dock.

I was asked to remove them and I did, I didn't have to but I did because the guy who took the pics and posted them here violated an agreement his company had with BRP. I have no idea how he found us or why he decided to post them here because he wasn't a Spyder guy or a dealer, he was just some guy working the event.

As much as I wanted to post them on the front page and email them to all the members it just wasn't the right thing to do knowing how these were acquired. The photo of the Spyders in the desert was taken by a private individual that just happened on the crew doing whatever they were doing and it was already posted on a ATV site for quite some time.

I will say that I am more excited about the new Spyder than I was before after seeing these pics. I'm pretty sure I'll be making room in my shop for this one to be joining the one I have now. nojoke

We will all be able to see them Tuesday I think.:2excited:

Guess I was lucky seeing the pics yesterday. But, "something to get excited about" or not, I'm not in the market. It's simply a matter of interest in what's coming down the pike.

Having seen the forbidden fruit so to speak, I'll only say that this new model is going to have some serious appeal to an even wider market share. I only hope the "sporty" model continues too.

I think you did a very good thing Lamonster. The public today needs more honest trustworthy people like you. Good job.

kNOWS ALL

I've seen you post a few times that nobody knows whats coming for 2010. :dontknow:

I'd rephrase that perhaps to read that "you" don't know.

Being polite here , just thinking perhaps before you say "nobody knows" , you should know who you are lumping into the "nobody knows" category. Just sayin.... cuz you will find out in about 14 days your statement is quite wrong. :spyder: Ride on Brother.
Or maybe it would be more correct to say EVERYBODY KNOWS about the picture that you and everyone else has see.:D Just being polite here ,so ride on brother:thumbup:

I was stopped by a trucker that delivers Spyders and he had the following to offer:

The trucks had to be redesigned to fit the larger profile of the 2010s. He also stated that the engine was around 1900cc.

Take it for what it is- hearsay. He seemed convincing enough to me though.

Bummer - looks like I should get up earlier to come on here

Yeah, no kidding. I guess even freedom of information on the internet is tainted. I have always assumed that if it wasn't sensative information that would endanger the lives of troops (opsec), or if it wasn't indecent (porn), that, as free citizens, we could post things on this forum that would enlighten or entertain the other members of the forum. That is one of the major reasons that I frequent the Spyderlovers; the information is often very current and not corrupted by the bureaucratically neutered spokesmen from BRP. We are talking about the new Spyder, not the new aircraft to replace the stealth bomber. I guess I still have plenty to learn.

I think Lamont did the right thing.

It is BRP's vehicle. Sounds like they had a signed contract with the company doing work for them NOT to take or publish any pictures or information.

BRP paid the contractor and someone violated the agreement.

I think it is more important to maintain integrity than it is to satisfy our curiosity (which, by the way, will get satisfied soon enough anyway).

I don't think we suffer from too much integrity anywhere in society today. If Lamont leaves the pictures up (as much as we'd like to see them) he encourages who ever it was that violated the contract with BRP.

It isn't a matter of what you can get away with. It's a matter of what is right.

I agree, it isn't a national security issue. But right is right. It is one of the reasons SpyderLovers.com is a great place to be.

I am not a grasshopper, but I can wait.

I like the sound of 1900cc's. If that would be true, I would take the loss and do some trading; However, I'm still waiting on that 2500cc Goldwing:Dnojoke

Well Done Lamont.

In a world that rewards ethical breakage u are clearly the stand out for doing the right thing .

:2thumbs:

yup . . . .

We are talking about the new Spyder, not the new aircraft to replace the stealth bomber. I guess I still have plenty to learn.

. . . it is THEIR party and you can cry if you want to.

Even after Tuesday, when 'all' is revealed, there will be plenty to speculate on, grumble over, and drool about. Marketing strategies that try and build "buzz", interest, and anticipation are nothing new. The internet has just added a new wrinkle to it. There even seems to be whole industries that spy on new cellphones, car & truck models, movies, computers and iPods. The tabloids really play upon this, because "inquiring minds want to know", no cows are sacred and no fact cannot be bent or manufactured. Anything is fair game to be seconded guessed in advance.

But, I try and put myself in BRP's position. If I were planning a new model unveiling, or product introduction that was very important and costly, I would want to manage the First Impression - you only get one shot at that.

So, it is not about National Security or even about your or my "right" to be entertained. It is about them doing this unveiling the way they think best. It is their privilege and responsibility. I have noticed that if you don't respect and support other peoples' privileges, responsibilities or rights, you will could lose yours. (which is why I wrote this)

I wonder if after tuesday the brp spyder web sight will have the new specs. on the 2010 touring models?

I will be blunt, very blunt. This is Lamont's board and we are all just his guests. If we don't like it go somewhere else, that is your choice. I plan on staying here because it is Lamont's Board and he runs in with the same morals and ethics that I have which makes me feel comfortable here. In this world of instant gratification, I choose not to partake and can wait for the official unveiling. Having said all this I still do like to peek at the Christmas gifts under the tree the night before !!!

I haven't heard anything about motor size or any changes to the motor or gearing. I would never turn down a bigger motor but after 40,000+ miles on this one I would say it's getting the job done just fine. :doorag:

I hope you will continue to visit SpyderLovers for the most current information. There are several Spyder sites out there now and as far as I can tell SpyderLovers is by far the most active site. Even the BRP guys tell me this is the only site they visit.

I don't take a pay check from BRP and there is no site support from BRP in the way of banner ad's or anything else. Two years ago these guys never knew I existed. I have worked hard to build a good relationship with BRP but I am not their puppet, I just happen to be one of Spyders biggest fan.

I have spoke out more than once about things I didn't think was right about the product or the way a customer situation may have been handled. I'll tell you right now I think their website could use a lot of work, it's one of the hardest sites I've ever tried to find things on.

Some of these guys have become my friends and a friend at BRP asked me to take them down and for him and the good of the company I did so because I felt it was the right thing to do even though it was the opposite of what I really wanted to do.

BRP has spent a ton of money to launch this new product and as Tom in NM has well said it is their right to manage the first impressions and not some little internet club site. You can bet once the launch is official you'll have more information here on SpyderLovers than any other site. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. :doorag:

Well said Bro, better than I could have said it. :doorag:

I wonder if after tuesday the brp spyder web sight will have the new specs. on the 2010 touring models?

I'm pretty sure there will be a big splash on SpyderRyder and I'm sure you'll have some good info and maybe even be able to ask some first hand impressions from some members here. :doorag:

I hate waiting but it will be well worth the wait. Thanks for your support Bro. :doorag:
