While doing an oil change last week, I noticed two problems.
#1 battery strap had broken in two, possibly from old age, maybe a fluke.
#2. The rubber grommet in the bracket that holds the top of the oil tank and coil, stationary, had deteriorated, allowing the tank and coil to move maybe 1/8-3 1/16. Not a good thing, long term. I loosened the nut and put in an additional rubber washer, then snugged it down. This removed all the play. That nut and bolt will only tighten down so far, so it can't be over tightened , so you would need a new grommet, or just add a rubber washer.
Just an fyi for GS owners.
