• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

BRP is telling me that there is no upgrade to 20.8 for the 2018 F3L, is that true? I checked with the dealer and they say the same thing.

My dealer told me the same thing about my 2018 RTL. I had to cajole and convince them, and finally they kind of made the ticket as warranty with a disclaimer that they didn't know anything about it. As I understand it, if you have the new dash display the 20.8 should fix everything about it. One trick I used was to hold their own feet to the fire. The new style display was supposed to show miles until empty, and it didn't. My overall mileages were also frozen and wouldn't reset. So the way to pressure them into taking action is to take it in to "fix" what doesn't work, and suggest that you're heard the 20.8 is the fix. Worked for me. There is alway a remote chance the tech can brick the head unit, which may put you waiting. I read someone who said that the tech did the upgrade, then the thing quit working, and they had to replace the unit.

Had the 20.8 done 2 weeks ago. It has miles to empty right below fuel gauge. Starts at about 240 miles. Bluetooth to FM and Aux. Speakers sound better. So yes it does fix things. I don't use BRP connect. Just music on my phone. I may try it later.

Thanks for the reply's. Just got of the phone with BRP . Told them I have a 2018 with the upgraded dash and it does not show miles to empty. I asked if I qualify for the upgrade he said yes. He advised that I go to the dealer and tell them my dash does not show miles to empty and they should do it. A trip to the dealer is in order.

Tell the dealer to plug in their laptop with BUDS2 on it. It will scan your Spyder and show that there is a mandatory flash required.

Just got BRP email response:
Hi Paul,

Thank you for your message.

You are correct, your certified dealer will be able to update the software for you.

We kindly ask you to bring your unit to the dealership. If your dealer needs assistance regarding this update, they can contact our technical department so that we can assist them. You can also choose to contact us once your unit is at the dealership so that we may escalate your case on our end and have a technician directly reach out to the dealer.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions.

Best Regards

Sorry to interrupt the conversation here guys but just to say, well done again BRP for this minor but positive result, this is how to influence buyers and owners.

Agree it's not much but after dealing with a couple of previously well regarded Japanese marques in the last 10 years [possibly an Australian, and lack of buyers thing] with lack of responses, it's good to see!

Oh! and my dealer installed 20.8 just last week on my 18 f3l. even here at the bottom of the world.
