• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

....always on battery tender and I need a new battery? Strange is not it? I have bikes with 5/8 years old batteries (always on tender too!). What's your experience (2011 RT-S).

Well..!!

You will see allot of different length of time. Depends on many things. Does seem soon to go bad but how long does it sit, how much load on it (lighting, trailer lights, electronics, heated gear, etc) ...:dontknow:

Battery's are mysterious black boxes, Some last 6/7 years [but not many] and some will bite the dust in a year, Miles on the vehicle mean nothing... My wife's 02 Gran Vitara is on its third battery, My Ram 05 is still on its original battery. Two years is not good but it's also not to bad, It could have been sitting on a shelf for a while before it was installed in the Spyder, Also a common reason for short battery life is it was not ''FULLY'' charge just before put in use. When ever i get a new battery i take it home and slow charge it before i install it , No matter if the salesperson says it's fully charged just stick it in and your good to go...........

Still running the original battery on my 2010 RT-S. 31,000 miles now. On the battery tender from mid October thru March this year. A little hard starting this time but okay once I got it going. Clock needed a five minute adjustment--same as the 2011.

Battery life

2011 RT......3 batteries .....and on a tender . Finally got someone to check the radio and found it was pulling WAY too much.Radio was changed out ( last Sept. ) Battery was replaced at that time . Kept on a tender over the winter .Went out to start it and the battery was completely dead . I did find the tender lead had been knocked off ( assuming grandkids in garage about two weeks before ).Hooked to charger and nothing , wouldn't take any kind of charge and couldn't even jump start it. Pulled the battery and took it for testing ( Battery Giant $ 85 ) and it was completely shot. Battery dealer stated that for a new battery to be ruined like that , there had to be something drastic wrong with the bike.Replaced the battery ( dealer charged for 24hrs ) and took it to a different CanAm dealer to have it checked out. Took awhile but he found a relay that was intermittenly sticking causing a draw.Replaced the relay under warranty and now appears to be fine. He still suggested using the tender but don't think the problem will return . I guess the moral to the story is that if there is a problem , don't accept the story that it's inherent to the spyder , find a dealer ( heard this before ? ) willing and capable of looking and solving the problem.

My RT-SM is 2 years old with 22000 mi. on it I was having battery problems and ordered a new battery. When I took the old one out the ground cable wasn't very tight. I installed the new one and put the old one in my law tractor and no problem yet check your connections first.
