2 stupid tire and oil ?'s

havent seen it in print but can the front wheels and tires on our
rides be spin balanced or only static. my dealer over the years has
only static balanced bikes tires. these are more like auto rims. and
no, im not gonna run beads. second ? is has anyone run an additive
in their oil[let the comments begin] ? i know its a wet clutch.

The front wheels should be able to be balanced just like any other car tire/rim combination!!

Certainly mine have been balanced by both methods at my local tire shop, & just for fits & giggles we also even did an 'on vehicle' spin balance (cos we could & I was showing their latest trainee technician how the device worked!) :thumbup:

My personal opinion of oil additives is that their claims are largely in the same category as the proverbial snake oil.
First was STP and their longer, quieter, cooler slogan.
I was in a shop that cleaned out lots of STP muck from the bottom end of the crankcase.
Did it harm anything?
No except the wallet of those who bought it.

Then there was the spate of teflon stuff.
The problem is teflon, in order to bond to things, must be done in a controlled manufacturing process, otherwise it simply balls up into a slightly less than slippery as oil ball.

Stay away from additives, while most probably won't hurt they won't do much good either.

I have spin balanced my front tires. The reason I did that early in their life was due to such a poor job by BRP. No issues, except the shop must have the correct adapter. I have not changed my rear tire yet, so I cannot comment on it.

I would agree. Grab some good oil! I just started using Mobil 1 Racing 4T in my RTS but I've used it in other bikes without issues. So far it does seem as if the bike shifts quieter and smoother. I found Pep Boys online with promo code was the best price but can be bought at your local Walmart. Ron here sells filter kits.

Depends....

On what the shops have available to them. The tire shop I take my wheels to does have the attachments to do my wheels. if they don't the it is static. Either way it is good enough for the passive ryder. I am not the type for putting anything in the tires other than air or nitorgen gas.

As for additives, they were helpful in days gone by but now-a-days the new oils have no need for additives as long as you are using a quality name brand oil. :thumbup:

Spin balance the tires.

Stay away from oil additives. Put the money into a better oil if you want a better lubricant.

Anything round, that's got a hub on it... can be spin balanced! :thumbup:
Find yourself a shop that's equipped to do the job properly!
