• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

1st weekend with the RT

Other than an inch of rain slowing my weekend ryding, I've had the RT for 4 days and now 420 miles... it's an amazingly different ryde from the RS. Comfort is there from the start, my bride loves the comfort and secure feeling, the auto suspension is as good as my old Wing, and the iPod interface works better than the one in my BMW X3...

I have no idea what kind of milage I'm getting (I suspect, not very good), as I'm still learning the SE trans - mine came with the shorter windshield (too short for me), and I'm looking forward to going back to the stock tall one - the extra three inches will make a huge positive difference.

I do find that I use lower gears more often than I did on the RS - 5th seem more like an overdrive.... but I tend to be MORE aggressive in the corners with the SE?? Go figure.

I don't remember who posted the pin-out for the GPS plug, but THANKS!!! I got the 550 wired, and bolted onto the Kwelmetal holder - the pop-out in the center of the bars keeps the sano look too!

When the RT was introduced, I really did not think I'd like it, but after riding my friend's RT A/C, I was hooked. Given all the support I received purchasing and shipping the beast, it's made a perfect early Christmas present for me.

:congrats: and welcome. When you start checking mileage for real, you will find that mileage gets better after you put more miles on the bike. Lots of things will affect mileage but you will probably average out in the low 30's.

new RT

Hi Dragonrider,

Congrats. on your new toy. What did you do with that hot red RS you had? Thanks again for inviting me to look, draw and photograph your Boise friends RT. With that start and access to 8 Legged Freak's RT, I was able to design the Seal FloorBoard RT SE5 model. 8 Legged says that because he can plant his feet wider and securely on his FloorBoards he has increased his cornering speed by about 10 mph. Something for you hot dogs" to consider. happy riding, I hope to upgrade to an RT next summer.

Ride in comfort,

john,
Seal FloorBoards.

John - the RS really wasn't a long distance bike for me (I'm way too big). Made the decision to sell her, when my bride & I returned from our Canadian trip. Got home on Friday, listed Red on CL that night, and she was gone the next morning at my full asking price. Wasn't going to do anything until next Spring, and was going over to Bend or Boise to buy a RT A/C, (NO local deals - their '08s aren't really discounted) but I found Roger's RT on the forum, and couldn't pass it up. She now resides in her own comfortable garage (when we're not on the road).

BTW, the step up is well worth it, and the performance differences will fade after abut 400 miles - you'll never look back.
