I just had my 3000 checkup and it cost me $195.00 and my dealer told me next checkup should be done at about 10,000 miles!
If you want to split hairs: it's actually 12,300 mores, OR one year.

Blue 3 said:I did read my manual, and refer you to page 49 where it says "Operating During Break-In". It states "after the break-in period, your vehicle should be inspected as per the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE." Now you could say you do all of the first inspection without the oil change part at 600, but the owners manual does not say that. Either way, as for the amount of money I paid for my spyder I'll follow the manual where it says that at 600 you do the first inspection. Then when I go 9300 miles or 1 year I will change the oil again.
Either way, since I have already passed my 600 miles, and doubt I will hit 9900 miles during this ryding season it is a remote point for me.
Another interesting point is on page 49 it states "after the break-in period, your vehicle should be inspected". This means (to me) that it is a suggestion, and not a requirement. Yet the dealers will say it is a requirement.
Rap rider, you have a 2016 with a 998? Uhhhhh?

Just got that done. I need people opinion on the cost. I was charged $457 for this service. I was told there is $297 for labor and the rest for parts.
A little stiff for my taste. Does that sound in line with other dealers? Just curious...
I know it was unnecessary, but I had an oil and filter change (only) at 600 miles in an abundance of caution - cost $188.00 for everything. When I bought my Spyder, I negotiated for a free 3000 mile service as part of the deal.
If that is your choice and you fully understand that it is early. Nothing wrong with that. Whether by misunderstanding or deception. If people believe that doing the first service before it is specified by the manufacturer is somehow required. That needs to be cleared up.
I quote from page 49 of your manual. "After the break-in period, your vehicle should be inspected as per the MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE." I am sorry, but how can you interpret that to mean ignoring the Maintenance Schedule. Maybe it could be written better. Still the Maintenance Schedule says 3,000 mi. That statement says to follow the Schedule. :dontknow::dontknow:
For the price some are quoting for a first service, I Did my own oil change and Rear tire change for less.I do not hear anyone say they did there own service ?I am not rich ,and capable to do my own service .
The manual for 2013 states that the Spyder is to be inspected by the dealer at 600 miles at the owners expense, on page 126. There is a sign off for the dealer on that page. Guess that is where the confusion began. The dealer should know what they are to do at 600 miles. It's not unusual to have the oil changed at 500 miles on a new motorcycle engine.
True regarding the 2013, a V-twin, but the OP has a 1330 ACE engine and the break-in inspection page on 2014 and later RTs operator's guides says 3,000 miles.

After re-reading the book I'll give you that I was wrong on the details, but I'm still glad I did my 3,000 at 600.
Earlier is never bad. Just the cost if you are paying a dealer to do it. Most people do not wait the full 9,300 miles in between either. So far, I am at once a year, but have not got to close to the 9,300 interval.
