• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

14K mile service

Scheduled the 14K mile service appt today, for two weeks from now. I don't get it, I asked to have the plugs and wires changed, only to once again be told there are no wires to replace on my 2010 RT 998 V-Twin. My plan was to order BajaRon's set and take them along the day of, (since you guys are saying that BRP's are crap). Who do I believe here...all of you guys, or the dealer? :opps: I will forego the valve check, simply due to the history/numbers of those that actually require an adjustment. Also passing on the oil change, since that was done 1000 miles ago. So, what say you???? Do I order the plugs AND wires from Ron and take them along for the service? After tonight's ride I may pass on the lazer alignment that I was pondering also. Seems to track nice and straight.

sounds like you are totally on the right track it's a good idea to upgrade the plugs and wires and forego the valve adjust.

Bottom line!
YOU tell your dealer WHAT TO DO! If they don't go for that and tell you your warranty is void now.... They are just being idiots!
I have been through this myself and in the end.... Dealer understood and did what "I" told them to do which was a warranty claim repair.

Can I ask.... how much time do you have on your extended warranty?

Bob

Bob, I bought a 4 yr extended warranty, which took over from the original in May. So are you saying some of this is warranty work? I assumed it was all "maintenance"

I'm just over 14k and plan on doing the same as you, did you get quote on the cost of this service?

Took my 13 RT in this morning for the 14K service and the Heat Mediation. Dealer quoted $500 for the 14K without valve check. Their shop rate is $99.00 /hr.

Holy c..p. I hope they are doing a fine wash/detailing job as well.they must be charging you for the heat thing instead of being warranty

They quoted me $460 to do the service, but skipping the valve check and doing plugs and wires, and NOT doing the oil change. Called again today to confirm some things and questioned the issue of "no plug wires". I said that I've read way too many posts about broken OEM wires to NOT change the wires. I recieved plugs and wires from Ron today, so I'm trying to get these clowns to do what I ask. They owe me a free oil change so I'm gonna see if they'll apply that credit toward the plugs/wires labor....We shall see.

Probably too late, but I would get JT's air filter and have that put in too as long as they have to take part of the air box out for the front plug. Subsequent plug changes will take significantly less time...

The 14K service, sans the valve check, should be the same price as an oil change/filter service. Adding changing out the plugs and wires will cost additional.

I understand removing one of the plugs is a real bear. That could be the reason for some of the extra labor.

Actually it should not since I am also having the recall done that requires the removal of the air box anyway.

Should be ready for pickup in a day or so. Since I had LED lights, turn signal addition and RGB strips attached to the Bumpskid I removed all the Tupperware and added disconnects before taking it to the dealer with the exception of the two pieces needing modification. Did not make sense for dealer putting it back on only for me having to take back off to fix the lights.

I changed the wires on my 2012 RT. The front plug is easy, it's getting the air box out that takes some time.
