There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hi,
Original owner....12.5 k mileage.
Only two problems:
Fuel gauge.... sporadic on & off
Automatic brake switch needed replace last year was under warranty.

Wondering how other owners of RT 2014 have
Fared with maintenance and problems?

Thank you,
David

Our 2014 RTL was traded in last fall with 84,000 miles.

Issues we had were -

Rear air bag leak due to a fitting - replaced under factory warranty.
Noisy power stearing unit - replaced under factory warranty.
DESS falure twice - both replaced under extended warranty.

I have a 2015 RTSE6 took it to the dealer yesterday. It has no fuel or temperature analog gauges. This is not the first time it has been in for this problem.

My 14 basic RT is my third Spyder since 09 ….. I had some minor ( except for the DESS module ) issues that were covered under warranty. I didn't get any extended warranty and so far so good …… This will be my last Spyder, ( I'm 72 ) I expect to get at least 250,000 miles …. I do all my own maintenance …… Mike :ohyea:

Mine has 51.6K on it now. Parking brake motor replaced under warranty at 9,400, wouldn't hold once applied. Am very satisfied and, like Mike, expect to get tons more mileage on it.

I had a 2014 RT Base model. The only issue that I had was the DESS error. My cruise control would also not work for the first 300 miles after any service maintenance when the bike was placed on BUDS. But after about 300 miles everything would work normally. Sold the bike with about 24-28k miles.

My 2104 base model RT had parking brake motor replaced about 9,000 miles (sounds familiar) and at 32K miles the cam shaft sensor failed. BEST warranty covered that. Not bad really. I rode to the Homecoming without a hitch and lots of miles after. Love the machine. Still have it and will have it to the end.

I have a '14 RTL with 35,000 on the odometer with zero issues outside of normal maintenance items. Love my ride!

My 14 RTS SM-6 had the main bearing on the clutch go at 118,000 miles, that was the only big issue I had and it was covered under extended warranty. Still had the original shock air bag and compressor, never had the DESS issue or any parking brake issues, original belt as well

DESS nodule. Traded with 30k miles. Mostly trouble free. only real issue I had
was the extraordinary boot up time after turning the key before you could actually start.

I have had the DESS replaced twice.

( 1st time was on 7/17/15 at 6,994 miles under warranty, the second time the dess module/and the switch replaced on 8/24/2015 @ 8,740 miles both under warranty).

Also, had the OEM right front tire shake, replaced the both front tires , no shake after that.

Since then no problems and the spyder has 24,550 miles.

I have a 2014 RTS-SE6.

2014 RTL had only one issue. Shortly after we bought it the right side panel split near the passenger foot rest. Warranty took care of it.

2014 RTS. The parking brake motor went bad at around 3500 miles. It was a warranty fix. There was a string of early production 14 RTs with bad parking brake motors. Other than that I don't recall any other problems at all other than CB radio but that wasn't a factory install. I've got 30,000+ miles on it now.

2014 RTS ( in bright Circuit Yellow ) has had NO problems since new. After bringing home from the dealer,it shook like a jack hammer at speed:yikes:. Dealer replaced both front wheel and tires. NO problems and many happy miles and 2 or 3 week long trips. Just had the ECU flashed ( stage 1 ) and couldn't be happier. With a Alutima rear tire ,drive belt balancer, and front wheel alignment, the :spyder2: is smooth, steady at any speed---- a pleasure to ryde.

2014 RTS, overall been pretty good.

One drivers floorboard was replaced under warranty due to corrosion.

DESS was upgraded to latest version under warranty.

When new front oem tires were way out of balance, once balanced they ran fine for many miles.

Front toe in from new was out quite a bit.

Think that is about it. Honestly been pretty good, however I do all of the work myself, except warranty stuff. Currently, rolling non Kenda tires, absolutely had to get away from the stock seat, plus other mods.
