• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I've read everything, currently riding a 2011fjr1300. I've tested an 09 rs and 13 st, both se5. From what I've read, the 14's have been improved and a three year warranty is good insurance. I'm pretty much sold on an rs model. Any drawbacks to buying an sm5, new or used? Thanks!

The RS model with sm5 tranny seems to be one of the least troublesome :spyder2:'s. I bought one of the first 2008's and put 23,500 miles (troublefree) before trading off on an early edition 2010 RTS.

The big changes this year were the engine and tranny (SE6) on the 2014 RT models. Still pretty much the same on the RS version. (998 cc) engine.

Here's the thing..!!

any year GS/RS/RSS will be good all big twins. Only the ST was big change (still big twin) in 2013 and the RT in 2014 went to a triple and six speed transmission. See what you like if used run the vin# by any dealer to see that all updates have been made. It's your eye and your wallet. I have a 2012 RS sm5 and love it. Could not see paying the extra for the RSS...hope your out with us soon....:ohyea::ohyea:

Welcome from Las Vegas. If you are looking at the ST then I would recommend the 2014. If you are getting the RS they haven't had the drastic changes like the RT and the new ST so any year is good.

We have a small group of riders in Las Vegas and we have a group ride on the 1st Saturday of the month. We meet at 8:00 at ProShop in Henderson and ride from there. If you are interested in joining us you can send me a PM with your email address and I will add you to our list. Also, if you are on Facebook go to Spyder Ryders of America - Mojave Desert Chapter for the same info.

Good luck with your purchase.

I'll post pics when I decide.

There are alot of great deals out there for used ones for all models. Like any bike, people buy them and then are afraid to ride them, cant keep up with the payments or find out they are just not cut out for it. My friend found a great deal on a used ST S SE5 2013 for 16K with 1k miles on it. Great deal when the guy 8 months ago paid around 21K. I would go for the SE models. Its much easier when you get caught in stop and go traffic. Good luck!!!

you need to know what another thred i just seen the guy said it was too hard on him to lean forwerd on the 2014 rs and there was no way to extend the bars for the 2014s ,but anothe guy told him he could get a st bars that would fit and maby the rt bars might work to bring them back where he wouldnt need to reach so far to the bars ,just something to think about.i had a rs 2010 and put 4in risers on worked grate.:2thumbs:
