• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

1330 RPM range

I loosely follow the ECO and get great gas mileage, and tire wear. High RPM's = poor gas mileage and better tire life if I am not overly twisting the throttle and trying to make high RPM's and jackrabbit starts. The ECO mode is there to be used as a guideline and not an absolute must. The 1330 is so overpowered that you do not need to wrap it up every time you shift.

I see poster's complain about poor gas mileage and extreme tire wear and you've got to wander about there riding habits and style. If you want to save fuel slow down, that's what we did in even the Boeing 747. Even slowing 5 MPH and letting a few cars pass you will save a lot of fuel and you will suffer a lot less fatigue. Try it sometime.

You can't drive like an idiot or racer and expect to get good gas mileage and less tire wear. The choice is your's. Life is not a race, it's an experience!

Jack, see you at Barrett Jackson

:agree: Thank you for reminding us!
Most fuel economy complaints have more to do, with how the right wrist dances with the loud grip; than anything else.

:agree::agree: I certainly have to agree, I didn't mean to imply that that is the way I normally drive. But then again, I do have an aggressive side when it comes to vehicles.

I prefer the KISS method when it comes to shifting.

For the 1330 triple: I pretty much shift between 3000 and 3500 on all upshift changes. I listen to the motor and punch it accordingly. The 1330 will cruise nicely above 50 mph in sixth gear with no lugging. Regardless of the gear, the 1330 will get up an go with just a twist of the throttle in any gear. I let the 1330 downshift when it wants to. No clunking either.

For the 998 v: I shift between 5000 and 5500 on most shifts. That is where the power band seems to kick in. We usually do not use fifth gear until we are at 60 mph or higher. I downshift at about 3500 in all gears--except for 2500 on the 2nd to 1st. This seems to be the magic spot where there is no clunk. Akspyderlady, lets it downshift on its own.
