Today we were headed from Las Vegas to Mesquite for a veterans benefit. Just outside of Las Vegas we came to a stop and it was downhill from there. I rolled along for 25 + miles, the two wheelers decided to take the shoulder
but I did the legal thing and rolled along. It was one day when I wouldn't have minded having an SE instead of an SM. The actual temperature was around 85 but the thermometer on the Spyder read between 98 & 107. The fan cycled on and off - it is pretty loud - and the water temperature never went above the halfway point. I had no issues with heat from the Spyder and it ran smooth. I did have one problem though, the instrument display faded to black. It started at the bottom and worked all the way to the top, I could only see half of the characters on the top line on the display. Once I got back to speed it went back to normal. I was headed northeast so the sun was beating down directly on the display.
I did get to meet a Spyder rider who was on her way home to South Dakota. We chatted briefly as we were rolling along. I hope she made it safely to Cedar City, UT when I got off the highway she still had 30 miles of lousy traffic related to the guy who is battling the Bureau of Land Management over grazing rights, and then 20 miles of 1 lane road through the Virgin River Gorge.
