• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Amazing rescue...

Maybe in Utah... In NYC they'd just reach in and try to grab your wallet while you're pinned.;)

need to rant and rave... scream and more........

This thread is about ranting and venting. Logically, yes, any sort of booby-trap is almost always a bad idea (e.g.: http://www.upi.com/Top_News/World-News/2010/10/23/Man-killed-by-own-booby-trap/UPI-69591287840035/). I grew up in an area of Canada that had a low murder rate, but property crime...

    Speed?

The analog speedo reads to 200 because if you trip it to register in KM/Hr, you can get close to that (note: the analog speedo is accurate for either MPH or KPH, depending on what you ahve it set for).

    More on Ethanol

Then I suggest you go hand the money directly to them. Putting corn-based ethanol is gas just stupid all the way around. More energy is used in refining the ethanol than it produces, and it lowers fuel economy. Thus it doesn't really do anything to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Plus it...

    More on Ethanol

OK, so does this mean there is any hope that this will lead them to start taking that crap out of our gasoline? At least it's a start, right? http://content.usatoday.com/communities/ondeadline/post/2011/06/senate-votes-to-end-ethanol-subsidies/1

    Motorcycle insurance in the news

Geico has good for me. I pay $329 for a full year, which isn't bad since I've only been riding a MC for a year. Plus, I get part of that refunded back to me around Nov/Dec when I lay it up for the winter and convert to their 'storage' option.

Fastest 0-60 times on a Spyder...

What's the best way to time yourself, anyway? I'd love to find out mine (have 2Bros Exhaust and Juicebox Pro), but I don't have an extra hand to hold a stopwatch while accelerating as fast as possible. Plus, I like to watch the road, more than the speedo.

    Replacement Front Rims

Can anyone recommend a set of reasonably priced replacement front rims for the Spyder? I want something the same size and bolt pattern, but where the spokes of the rim don't protrude past the tire like they do on most stock RS rims. Thanks.

    Question for NY spyder owners

Mine's right here (red circle in picture). Is that the swing arm? It used to be under the windshield, close to where it would be on a car, but dealer moved position last time I got it inspected. I hate these inspections. Where I used to live, you only needed the vehicle inspected if it was over...

    Spyderlovers recommended Service Centers

I second the recommendation for Arctic Adventures. Friendly and good prices. I drive an hour to deal with them rather than use the clowns right down the street from me.

    Wheel lift and Suspension

I've lifted a wheel a couple of times during cornering, so I tried increasing the stiffness of the stock shocks (up to 5) and added the Evo-sway bar. It seems to me the Spyder is more likely to lift a wheel now. Admittdely, maybe I'm just cornering more aggressively... Anyone else ever get that...

Is there enough play in the wiring to do the 3 or 4" risers without having to cut/extend the existing cables/wires?

    6x10 trailer question

Wow - I really like your set-up. I've been trying to find a used 6x10 trailer, but they're hard to come by. 5x8s are easy to find, though. Can you post pics of how you do the tie-downs? Thanks!

    Heat from RS engine

I'm just curious - is anyone else confused by the heat issues? If I ryde on a hot day in stop-n-go traffic with shorts on, I feel a bit too much heat on one calf. But as long as I have my jeans on, I never even notice. I have an '09 RS/GS, if that matters.

    Numb fingers: Risers?

I went for my first long distance ride today. I've been riding for over a year, but just around town and a few short jots onto the highway. I was on the highway for over an hour today and my fingers kept going numb (both hands - so not just a throttle-hand issue). I have an RS/GS, and I...

To kill or not to kill (switch), that is the question

I always do the kill. Personally, I recommend shifting into neutral before the kill, just in case you decide you want to move it around a little w/o bothering to start it up (easier to push in N). I often shift into N while approaching my destination, hit kill, coast up and hit the brakes.
