• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Motorcycle insurance in the news

Yes, thank you for sharing that. I found the demographic numbers pretty interesting. 55% of riders are over 40 now.

Many companies really want to spike you for the Spyder, simply because it's new and they don't really know how to classify it. I left my old insurance company for Allstate because they were willing to roll up their sleeves and work with me where as AAA would not budge. AAA lost ALL of my business.

As it happens, I'm kind of going through the same thing with the new FA. They seem to think it's some kind of SuperBike or something and the first quote I got made my jaw drop! :yikes: But I'm working with my guy and we are getting things down to a reasonable number. But yes, some very good points were made in the article for sure...

Geico has good for me. I pay $329 for a full year, which isn't bad since I've only been riding a MC for a year. Plus, I get part of that refunded back to me around Nov/Dec when I lay it up for the winter and convert to their 'storage' option.

Good Article...

As far as pricing goes... It is just silly to compare one persons vs another. To many variables that go way beyond that article (Although it was well written).

One thing to defend the Insurance companies with... There simply is not that much data collected or time for such data collection on the Spyders yet. Not to mention the RT is geared to a very different "Type" of market than the RS is. So a lot of Insurance Companies just drop it into a catch all for safe keeping.

Good example why... Nearly every one of my clients that get into "Small" (Folks cutting them off / slamming on brakes / ETC say 25mph and under) accidents on their Harley's sprain or break a knee, or ankle (Sometimes both) bruise their hip(s) and or ribs, ETC. Others lay the bike down and cause a lot of damage to the bike.

All of those happening with RS and RT owners are significantly reduced even at greater speeds because we are still on the bike or steering away instead of laying down, there by lowering the "Projected" or "Earmarked" funds by said Insurance company at the time of the claim. The issue is they do not know what that number ($$) should be as fact yet because there have not been enough accidents to pull this data from on Spyders.

So some companies low ball, others high ball and figure if you take it, so the better for them.

As mentioned by many in this thread so far. Shopping for the Agents/Companies who work for you are the ones you want. Because if and when there is a claim, you are going to most likely get that same type of service "Working" for you...
