• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Did it at last - brought home my next Last Bike!

Oldtimer: how do you like that windshield? It looks like it provides great coverage.

    Solo to Alaska

2016 was my 65th year and like you I said better do it now or I may never be able to do it. So I planned and executed a 7 week trip from Raleigh, NC to Alaska and back on my 2013 BMW R1200 GSA. Your report brought back many memories and was excellently done. Afterwards I said to myself I might...

What is the cost of tire replacement? And Brake rotor too?

My dealer put on a new rear tire (Ricken Raptor 215/60 R15...thanks Mike for suggestion) for $127.50 yesterday. 2016 RTL has 6722 miles and original rear was starting to go already. Fronts are fine, when they do need to be replaced I'll take them off to bring to the dealer.

    Blue Ridge Parkway 2021

They are both beautiful, a couple things to know, if you don't already: Skyline Drive requires entry fee or NP pass ( I have the senior one that only expires when I do), there is only one exit besides the North and South entrances, speed limit is 35 mph all the way, and many cagers go slower...

Red Dust of Death Recall???? Front Sprocket Recall - FINALLY....

Thanks for that link, mine came up for the recall, I'm a second owner so probably wouldn't have been notified.

Too old? Trying to be realiistic.

Coincidence (or a case of great minds thinking alike), at 71 and too many 2 wheelers like your buddy, I have ended up with a 2016 RTL purchased used and a new 2021 Himmie. For the OP: Ditto what everyone said, go for it. One word of advice that you may have seen elsewhere on this forum, don't...

    Comfort Seat Worth it?

I have a comfort seat on my 2016 RTL and had to remove the backrest when the wife rides, she didn't have enough room and she is not a big girl, about 5'4" and 132. I would not have kept the bike without the extra room of the comfort seat, the stock was way too cramped. I don't mind not having...

Kenda Kanine Tires ~ First Impressions

Tech at dealer in Durham, NC told me you bring the tires we'll put them on. Waiting to put a couple thousand more miles on the Kendas until I replace with car tires. Doing a trip to Maine this fall, hope to have them on by then.

Thinking of switching to 3 wheels from 2...not a Spyder owner...yet

I bought one of those low mileage used RTs (2016 RTL with 1300 miles) last July in perfect shape, got a great deal. Have put 4500 miles on it since, like many other newbees it took about 1000 miles to get used to it after many years on two wheels. I am just under 6 feet tall and I felt very...

    Highway riding

I'm a newbe to the Spyder too. I just want to encourage you to give it some time and miles. Riding the interstate when I first got my RTL last summer I had similar concerns. I did get the Baja Ron sway bar installed, it was somewhat better at holding a straight line after that. And maybe there...

First Long Ride On My RTL

I purchased my 2016 RTL last summer. It had 1300 miles on it and looked brand new. What with Covid and a super hot summer last year did not ride alot but managed to put 1700 miles on it by way of day trips and running errands. I finished up the 2nd vaccine shot at the beginning of March and...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

Replaced the gas strut that holds the seat up on my 2016 RTL. Original strut couldn't hold seat up with driver backrest on it. Small thing, but now I don't have to prop the seat up with a stick while refueling.

    Planning a trip

This is nowhere near that route but if you want to try coming back along the coast you might want to try a route that catches the Garden State Parkway on the southern end stay over in Cape May, take an early ferry to Lewes, DE and work your want down to the Bay Bridge Tunnel and Virginia Beach...

Maintenance on a used 2016 RT

I have recently purchased a 2016 RTL that had 1317 miles on it. The PO had the following maintenance done: oil and filter at 846 miles on 05/17 and oil and filter at 1162 miles on 08/18. 3,000 mile was of course not accomplished. I have put 800 miles on it in the past 2 months and expect to do...

    Not yet a Spyder owner

I am new to three wheels also. Just acquired a 2016 RTL with 1370 miles, guess the original owner never got used to it. I'm 69 yo and primarily went to the Spyder to continue two up touring. The wife lost some confidence when I dumped my GS Adventure on a gravel road in Alaska and she tried to...

2020 RTL or left over 2019/18

Did you purchase in Winston Salem, if so how did they treat you? I am planning on stopping there today on my way home to Raleigh, I have a seasonal home just outside Todd, NC.

    Dealers in NC

I have been to Sports Durst many times over the years, I wasn't sure they were the place to go since I have rarely seen more than a couple of Spyders on the floor, seemed it was a stepchild brand for them.

    Dealers in NC

Thanks for the responses. Brewer is closer to me so I would like to get some feedback on them. But Winston is half way between my home in Raleigh Durham and seasonal home in Boone, so that would work. Mostly concerned about good service, and will feel out their sales staff this Saturday. Again...
