• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    It's almost that time again....

Thanks, Dave! Prayers up that everyone has a wonderful, relaxing, and safe Thanksgiving day.

    Wow

EVs are impractical with any of the current or even foreseeable-future battery technologies in several areas. Extremely limited range, long recharge times, and decreased efficiency in cold weather, plus a limited life on the battery arrays which are expensive to replace. Only city-dwellers who...

    November Weather News

74 here today in northern Wyoming! 200 mile ride today, and it was magnificent. Supposed to be in the low 70s until Friday, when it will drop to a high of 60, and Saturday will be 36 with rain and snow mix. So I still get four more days of good riding this week!

I tell you what, You Aussie's have everything....

I'm a Florida native, mate...I feel your pain. Used to step out on the back porch for a morning cuppa and shoo the moccasins and pygmy rattlers off, then throw rocks at the gators that got too cheeky. And of course our state bird was the mosquito... :coffee:

    October Weather News

23 degrees F, 40+ MPH winds, and it was raining until midnight last night, so there is a thick layer of ice on everything. Probably not going biking today...

2012 RSS SE5 Battery Replacement Help?

I'll be going with a Deka when the time comes. They are extremely resistant to heat and vibration, which is why Harley uses them, and it is not uncommon for them to load test above their rated CCA. My bikes stay in an unheated garage and see temperatures between -35 F and 115 F, and the Dekas...

    ? Tire too big

Sounds like a "CYA" statement by the dealer, and that's fine. With all the electronic nannies on vehicles, small changes can sometimes cause issues, and as long as they didn't say it will create problems, they are just expressing due caution.

    Ryders down but not out.

A couple who are members of the Wyoming CMA ran into a deer on their Spyder last Sunday. The lady broke her leg badly, and it may need surgery, but thankfully that was the worst of it. Trike is banged up bad, but most of those in the know figure it would have been a lot worse for them had they...

The new Mustang is an abomination

Oh yeah...by giving billions of taxpayer dollars to manufacturers to "incentivize" EV production, and more billions to consumers to help them afford this inferior technology, they have effectively stacked the deck against gasoline and diesel and bypassed the idea of allowing a free market to...

The new Mustang is an abomination

Crossovers, SUVs, and large four-door touring vehicles exude a "cross-country" vibe. So take one, limit the range so it is only good for short-distance jaunts followed by long periods of uselessness while it recharges, use a power source that develops more toxic byproducts than fossil fuels and...

    Favorite ride close to home

We had a poker run up there when they were doing that construction! My wife and I on my V Star 1300 through that rutted rocky patch was not fun, but I roll darkside and that really helped. And last year another tornado went across the highway right up near Powder River Pass. Took out a bunch of...

    Favorite ride close to home

I can go about fourteen miles north and head over US Hwy 14 and then south to 16 and back home, making a loop on the Bighorn Mountains that includes two scenic byways and two passes around 10,000 feet, along with a great waterfall, canyons, switchbacks, 150 mile views, some 10% grades, elk...

2013 Spyder 156hp is it possible?

Aprilia got over 130 HP from the 998cc Rotax in their Tuono and the 995cc Ducati twin is 155 HP, so 156 is certainly achievable with some hotter cams, free-flowing intake and exhaust, a good ECU tune, some judicious cylinder head polishing and porting, larger valves, and balancing and...

Using a motorcycle jack for an RTL ...

I used mine to replace the front wheels/tires on the wife's RT...needed to drive the front tires up onto some 2-bys to get enough clearance to get the jack under, but it worked a treat.

    BP's Ultimate Grade Gas

Not a Spyder, but my step-dad and I have identical V Star 1300s, and took a 1,000 mile trip together in June. Same roads and speeds, same amount of stop-and-go, and same stations where we filled up. He runs premium exclusively, and I run 87 (we both run Top Tier). I averaged 1.8 MPG better than...

    Oil change Question

I agree with ButterSmooth about the dino-vs.-synthetic aspect. Some seasons I get fewer than 3,000 miles on my two-wheeler, and since I never change until I have 6-7,000 on the oil, and it winters in a garage that sees temps over 100 F to -35 F, I use full synthetic.

Shad bags - is there a cleaner to make them shine?

Cerakote wipes are hands-down the best thing for automotive-style plastic trim...not sure exactly what the Shad bags are made of, but if they are similar, the Cerakote will actually puts a hard, glossy coating on that is almost impossible to wash off.

    Bump Steer

I was very disappointed with the handling on the '11 RT we got earlier this year. Walked and wandered on bumps, in addition to feeling darting around on high-speed curves. I got a laser alignment performed, installed Vredesteins (19 PSI), and added a tiny bit of preload on the front coil-overs...

How can I remove a small stick on Mirror from my stock mirror?

Without knowing what kind of adhesive tape is on it, either a plastic scraper (if the tape does NOT have foam) and heat, or floss/fishing line (if it DOES have foam) will work to get it off. And if you do not have Goo Gone, WD-40 works very well for removing adhesive residue...and most...
