• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Software update for power steering ??

Does anyone know exactly what this software update does? I already changed my GPS (myself) after having a few really scary power steering 'burps' a few months ago. The part number molded into my original sensor was the same as the new one. This was surprising as my Spyder is an 'early...

    Moving to Richmond (VA)

Just pulled the trigger on a 3-car garage with a cool house attached in the northern burbs of Richmond. Will move down from Pittsburgh in mid-Aug and will NOT miss the pgh winters! Any advice on dealers with good service? I stopped yesterday at Fredericksburg Motor Sports and they claim to...

CREDIT CARD & CELLPHONE Actually, I carry a range of basic hand tools, combo wrenches up to 19mm, assortment of allen keys up to 8mm, quart of oil, paper towels, cleaners for your visor and windscreen. Socket for front wheel nuts. I also carry a small roll of duct tape, a compact...

    clutch acting llke throttle

I also had some peculiar 'high idle' sessions. Along with that I had a few power steering 'burps' at 70 mph. Wow! After much reading of this forum I replaced the Gear Position Sensor ($90) as this part has been found to cause both of these problems. Initially I contacted our most local...

O2 sensor eliminator and Hindle results

Pete: I just received my unit from Ken and will install tomorrow. My Spyder now has about 13,000 miles. I can remember spitting and 'hiccups' from at least a year ago, way before I installed the Leo Vince muffler. Now it seems a bit worse, especially once the engine is really warmed up...

    Changed out my GPS today

The GPS is the Gear Position Sensor which tells the system what gear you are in. But it is also responsible for many 'quirks' such as high-idle, power steering 'burps' where the steeing seems to grab control and then release - this is really exciting at 70 mph when you are rounding a curve but...

    Electrical Question

On the other hand, you may want this accessory outlet HOT all the time. I have two additional powered feeds from the battery connections (under the seat), one for my GPS, which I want to have on all the time when I'm on a ride, and the other for a powerlet outlet by my left foot (see attached...

    Changed out my GPS today

As I wrote in my post, I also bought the new sensor and changed it myself (I trust myself way more than any of the techs at our local dealer), but was surprised to see that the old sensor is also the same part number as the new one -66. Molded right into the part! Bummer. My machine is...

Belt tracking - mind of its own!

Even before I took delivery of my Spyder SE #445 in Dec. 08 I purchased the special Gates sonic tension meter from my power trans equip supplier. I'm an engineer and quite anal so I knew I had to have this tool to satisfy my concerns about the belt tension. No little 'clicker' from NAPA would...

    GPS replaced, few questions

I disconnected the leads from the battery itself, so there's no way anything was powered. How could the clock have kept time?? I had no doubt that I would pay for the part. Warranty work can only be performed by a dealer, so it would be impossible to receive a replacement part under warranty...

    GPS replaced, few questions

After reading the various threads on problems caused by / related to the Gear Position Sensor I called my closest dealer and convinced them to contact BRP to bring in the new sensor before I brought my Spyder in. I had had several episodes of high idle, for no apparant reason, and also had a...

    Missing & strange idle?

My Spyder now has about 12,600 miles after 16 months. This machine has been very reliable and comfortable for all types of riding including several 2000+ mile trips. Last summer I had a few instances where I would sense a miss, generally when riding at low speeds, after a long higher speed...

    Other ride

I didn't say I like the Buell more than the Sprint, but it IS different. The Sprint was an excellent long distance machine and got 48 mpg! I ride the Buell when I NEED to lean, zoom around a cloverleaf and have the exhaust resonate against the Jersey walls. The Spyder is for any kind of...

    Other ride

I had a Triumph Sprint ST and a Kaw KLR in the garage when the Spyder arrived 16 months ago. I immediately sold the KLR (mistake) and almost never rode the Sprint. So I sold the Sprint and looked for something a little 'different'. Bought a Buell Firebolt XB12R - what a fun machine, somewhat...

    Carrying extra fuel?

I still have the stock cap, keep it in the trunk. The aftermarket cap has been gutted, and this is how I use the aux cell - fills right thru this cap.
