• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Look inside the rear fender

Hi guys. I had the rear fender struts replaced on my Spyder a couple of months back. The dealer made a meal of the job, using the wrong nuts, which led me to remove the rear fender to check for damage. Inside, I found that the fender support was badly cracked. I've put some pics in my album...

    Rough down shifting

Hi kc. Sorry to hear that you are having a hard time at your dealer. I'm guessing that you have an SE5. My SE5 suffers from rough downshifting. It is caused by the throttle blipper not blipping the throttle as you would were you in charge of the shift. Ask them to check the blipper while it is...

    Rear fender strut repairs

Thanks Lamont. That was the link I was looking for. I've seen one repair where a 6 mm rod was welded across the top inside the strut to stiffen it against twisting. I haven't caught up with the owner again to find out if it was successful. Pogo

    Rear fender strut repairs

I'm surprised that that worked, but it kinda matches my lack of skills. How long ago did you do this? How many miles? Pogo.

    Rear fender strut repairs

Rear fender replacement plus belt guard It's a possibility, Freddy, but not one I'm keen on. How does your little guard go at keeping the road crap off the back of the bike? I do a lot of distance, and I would like to leave the mud and dust on the road behind me rather than on the back of my...

    Rear fender strut repairs

I recall reading a post by Lamont a few months back saying that he was about to repair the rear fender struts where they cracked. I've been searching for that post and can't find it. :dontknow: How did your repair last, Lamont? Any sign of the cracking returning? Did you stiffen the strut while...

    Hard downshift

Throttle blipper The SE is supposed to blip the throttle when it downshifts. I've had an ongoing issue with mine being intermittent, and nobody being able to say definitively under what conditions it will blip, or how to test it (other than the useless one blip out of five = working in the...

    Worn front pulley

Well the good news is that the mainshaft will be replaced under warranty. The bad news is that there is at least a two week wait for parts. I guess that means that they have another two weeks to work out why the throttle blipper doesn't. :sour:

    Fast idle

Hi again. My other brain cell just fired. For a while now Lola has been starting with a very high (2000 - 2500 RPM) idle speed. It seems worse when the weather is cool, but it isn't consistent. This is a pain in the seat compressor because, being an SE, it won't change out of neutral until...

Spark plug fouling from safety course?

An odd failure Hi Darkwilliam. I've had a few episodes of misfiring that were at first attributed to a damaged Y pipe gasket. On the last episode though, the gaskets had just been replaced. My mechanic said that whenever he had seen Spyders running on one pot, it was almost always the front...

    Worn front pulley

Hi All. I put Lola in for her 30000km service and to have another attempt at fixing the non-blipping throttle blipper last week. While investigating the non-blipper, the mechanic noticed that the front pulley was moving funny. Investigating further he found it worn on the inside, and the...

Much less if you unbolt the Civic from the middle of them. :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Cheers; Pogo.

    Electrical Question

I found a connector for the unswitched circuit in a white plastic clip just above the hood latch. You can just see it in this pic <http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=947&pictureid=10969> Not the big square one opened up in the foreground, but look in that area. It is a female...

Prep Needed to Paint a CHAD?

I used a paint pen straight over some scratches, fully expecting to have to pull the screen and do it properly, and so far it shows no sigh of peeling. I guess if it is clean and grease free, that is good enough.

    yay... ah Bummer

On probation I agree, it is damned frustrating. When Lola is on the road, she is the most wonderful bike, but Sheesh! How many things can go wrong with a new bike, and take so many attempts to fix? :gaah: Lola is on probation until the end of the warranty period in November. One more serious...

    Why don't my Spyder beep

Feeble cable Cars with auto transmission have a mechanical lock in the Park position so that they can't roll even if the park brake is off. On a couple of occasions I have caught Lola rolling a minute or two after I dismounted. The brake wasn't holding because the cable was stretching.:gaah...

Yep. When the Spyder gets hot, just push the button and wind down the window!:roflblack: Cheers; Pogo.

    Surging and rough running

Experiment, Igor! When, some time back, I suspected that I was having trouble caused by the purge valve, I got a small pair of vyse-grip pliers and clamped the hose from the purge valve to the throttle body. If you try this and the problem goes away, you have a pointer to the problem. If the...

fixed a crack in my fender bracket

Again? Mine cracked there both times. Once at 15000km, again at 25000km. I had them replaced under warranty, but the next time it happens, I'll be out of warranty.:gaah: I thought that there was a new part number for these with a properly heat treated part? Maybe just Spyder dreaming.:(

    500cc Spyder

Bit by bit It's funny how ideas come together. I picked her up this afternoon, and within a couple of kilometres the misfire was back. This time I had time, so I turned back and was able to demonstrate the problem. No codes showed up on the BUDS, just the engine running mostly on one pot...
