• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    2011 p1174 problem

cracked vacuum hose Very simple and cheap to replace. Even the ones that look good can have a small crack that allows air in. If the dealer does not have the BRP replacement parts a quick trip to the auto parts store will get you the right amount of hose for under $3. Remove the old ones and...

    Thank You J.T.

Air Cleaner We winter just south of you in Desert Center. Replaced the OEM system with JT air filter. Yes, sand is a never ending problem but with the JT system I get better cooling around engine. The OEM setup was very difficult to change the filter but very simple with JT's. Back in MN...

    Think I drained my battery

dead battery Unless something else was also left on I cannot see a GPS killing the battery. Perhaps you have been ryding the bike slowly since the last service in April. This bike needs to have high RPM's to keep the battery charged. I found this out when I got the RT as my battery continued...

    Loctite on threads

Having removed the tupperware a few times I began to wonder about reapplying loctite to the screw threads. The pale yellow material still shows up on some of the screws but others are understandably clean. What is the opinion of the group? Reapply loctite or don't bother. I have never had a...

    Problem with Spyder 2014 RTS

Kill switch Did a 650 mile ryde last weekend to pick up a RT622 trailer I purchased from a friend. Two different times after a meal and potty break I found the bike was "dead". Yes, it seems someone had messed with the kill switch. After that I tried to find a seat in the restaurant where I...

    Spyder ownership

spyder trades Went from 2 wheels to 3 in 2008 with a GS. The wife was never comfortable on 2 wheels as a passenger. She rode along much more with the GS and added the saddle bags for storage and changed the foot peg locations. Then in 2010 saw the RT. Sat on it, kicked the tires, etc. but...

RT HEAT ISSUE AND GAS SMELL

Boiling gas and gas smell I have a 2011 RTs. Temperatures while riding in Minnesota never brought out a heat problem except the gas smell. During the winter we head south and the higher temperatures in the desert SW plus maybe different gas formulations caused boiling gas and gas fumes...

    Flat tire ?

Had the rear tire pick up a nail while riding. It was raining so that is why I thought the weird feeling in the rear end was due to. Pulled under a bank canopy to check things out Late Saturday night so nothing open. I was about 20 miles from home and it must have been a slow leak. Used the...

    Coolant leeks

coolant leak 2011 RTs not RS but same engine set-up. Just had mine fixed yesterday. Same symptoms. No visible leak when riding but let it sit and a puddle of antifreeze under the center of the bike. All hose connections were good. It was the water pump seal. Dealer replaced seal and said I...

    Antifreeze leak?

spyder was parked for over a week because of weather conditions, rain, rain, rain/snow, you get the picture. Yesterday was nice so after starting it up outside the garage I notice a puddle of liquid on the garage floor. Yup antifreeze. It took about 1 pint to fill the overflow tank. Went for...

    JT's Breather Mod

colored anodized Anodic coatings can be dyed or left clear. The color choice is up to you when you bring parts into the anodizer. I assume JT decided not to spend the extra $ for the dye. It does not do anything to improve the life of the part, only cosmetic. Also some dyes are somewhat heat...

    Interesting emails with local dealer

Demo ride update Here is the situation. Wanted to demo ride a 2014 ST. Located the dealers close to me from BRP site. Sent emails asking if they had a 2014 ST available for a demo ride. One responded that no demo rides until the weather cleared up. This I understand. Then I saw in the...

    Interesting emails with local dealer

I have been in contact with the closest dealer to me about a 2014 ST SE5. The weather has not been to nice so they told me that they would not be giving demo rides until the weather clears. I just contacted them again and said how about a demo ryde on Saturday? They told me no, they are...

    Garmin 660 Shutting Off

Garmin My Garmin was doing that also and eventually would not reboot. Called factory and they said send it in. They replaced it with another unit and same thing started to happen. Turned out it was the power connection. Apparently the connector was damaged somehow and caused an intermittent...

My Attempt at the Fixing the Horrid Fuel Smell

Gas smell and boiling fuel in tank Mine is a 2011 RTs I never had a heat issue where it was uncomfortable to ride or touch the bike in hot weather. Just boiling sound from gas tank kind of like an old fashion coffer peculator and the gas smell. After removing air box and resonator and...

    Frunk Switch Not Working

Frunk switch First check that they did not bend the micro-switch arm or forget to reconnect the wiring. The micro switch arm is depressed by a tab on the lid and if it is misaligned will not respond. With the lid open and ignition on lightly depress the switch arm and then hit the frunk...

Temperature extreams Spend 6 months during the summer in MN and the other 6 months in So. California. Normally on the way home at this time but the cold and snow kept us here a while longer. Last week we were in the 90's and it continues on. Spyder was loaded on the trailer 2 days ago as...
