• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    THROTTLE BY WIRE

Love flying by wire, very smooth initial throttle response, zero problems, love the cruise control. It is one of the things that makes me prefer my RT to the RS I traded it in for.

Thinking of trading Goldwing for 2012 limited

Rt 3a Motors in Chelmsford MA tells me they sell more than any East coast dealer. They always deal, give excellent trades, and have great service too. I bought 3 bikes- two Can Ams and a Kawi and will buy more in the future if opportunity arises. Best of luck in your search.

    RECALL 2012-4 Spyder RT

Just got mine back from the ECM download. Nate, the tech who did the work said he also put in the new fix for the brake pedal problem where it trips codes when you rest your foot on it. That was new to me- I assume it just came out.

    Mounting a Zumo up high

I goofed whne I put the hole in the dash top where I did as it required the longer RAM arm to position it right for me. That made it bouncy so I kluged a little wedge of wood to stabilize it then used the handymans favorite duct tape to cover my kluge. I am very tall and took the second...

Reda gas can - Why is it so $$$pecial?

So far I keep it in the left side "saddlebag", along with my tools, cables for securing jackets etc and a map book. No problems yet

Lamont Ram Ball Attachment to Dash

Genius indeed! I just put two RAM balls on my dash in about 3 minutes. First I went to Lowes and got 1/8x3" toggle bolts. Then I drilled two 3/8" holes in the corners of the dash as pictured. I had to widen the holes just a little bit to get the toggle/wing to go through but I just wiggled the...

Is there enough room for the passenger with Utopia Backrest???

I go 6'9" 300 or so, my wife...is a + size gal and I am glad I bought the back rest that pops out. When I ride alone I use it, when she goes along there is no way she'll fit so I take it out and use her for a back rest- much more comfortable;). Either way I am very comfortable.

Taking a long trip- what to take beyond the regular stuff

Alarm? No one has mentioned needing an alarm on the Can Am. Is it not needed?

Taking a long trip- what to take beyond the regular stuff

Wow! Thanks for the replies. I think I'll look into a 1 gallon gas container, also make sure I can charge my phone from 12v. I bought the cover for the RT, have a few bungees and a stretch net, also a nice Cannon Elph camera so I have most of the basic stuff. I have a soft sided cooler that...

    A Gerbing user question.

I rode a couple of winters on my 2009 RS with the Gerbings jacket liner and gloves. Agreed that the gloves don't get that warm, so yours are probably normal . Now that I have an RT with heated grips I can have warm hands no matter. I rode down to 10 degrees f but after a few real cold weather...

Taking a long trip- what to take beyond the regular stuff

In the Spring We are taking the RT from MA to Oregon and who knows where else, traveling light, a change of clothes, credit card, GPS, a map or two and just go. If you have done a lot of this kind of thing can you suggest any items that might be helpful along the way? I have a tire patch kit...

What were you driving 40 years ago (1971)

'71 I was riding my '70 Norton Commando, a nice Irish green it was, and fast too. Traded my Beezer Thunderbolt for it. Before that a Harley.

2011 RT Owners - anyone looking to swap with a 2010 windshield?

Just got back from a windshield swap with ThreeWheels. We met halfway in Sturbridge, swapped in 10 minutes and drove away happy. The road test home proved the worth of the swap for me- the 2010 bigger shield works great for me- less turbulence, better coverage, altogether a good thing. Many...

FOOT PEGS TO BE MOVED FORWARD FOR TALLER PEOPLE

I've always wondered why the Spyder footpegs aren't lower. It doesn't lean in corners so it doesn't need the footpegs up high for cornering clearance. At 6'9" I can easily stretch my legs and rest my feet on the fenders. I don't do it much because I don't want to scratch them, but there are no...

    $$$ and Cents

I agree with the point made above about trade value of accessories- zilch. I had an RS, have an RT and while I got good money for the RS in a trade they didn't give me a dime for the backrest, rack, or touring windshield I had on it. They probably wouldn't have given me anything for hard bags...
