• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Dealers arm-twisted to take inventory?

My dealer, a multi-brand motorcycle shop, is considering dropping Can-Am. He says he's being told he has to take 44(!!!) 4-wheelers in addition to his generous Spyder inventory, or he can't keep his Spyder dealership. Can-Am ATV's, though very well made, are not priced competitively and are a...

    What GPS is best

I'd vote for the Garmin Zumo 550. If you want topo, you need to buy a separate map set and load in the database, maybe on an SD card as internal memory probably won't take the data. Usually the topo files are huge, and you have to pick and choose which areas you want to load on the unit. the...

Finally found a LED bulb for tail light

The Superbright Luxeon 3 Watt is very bright, maybe 2x stock. The Luxeon 5W are absolutely stunning! I've used the 3W in bikes, not tried it in the Spyder yet.

Finally found a LED bulb for tail light

Actually, for LED bulbs, the bulb color needs to match the lens. "White" LED's don't have the same amount of red wavelength as normal bulbs. You need maximum red production to get it through the red lens. If you use white LED's, your lights will be much dimmer once the red lens is replaced.

    Receiving GPS Instructions

You said you have the Scala rider setup for your helmet. If you do, the Garmin Zumo 550 and 650 will connect to both your helmet and your cellphone at the same time. You will clearly hear routing instructions, and if your cell rings, you can answer and talk (briefly, I hope!!) directly while...

    Auxillary Fuel Tank Installed!

Water weighs 8 lb per gallon, gasoline 6.25 lbs per gallon. Weight issues on the trailer have more to do with where you pack it than how much (within reason) Rule of thumb, tongue weight should be 10% of total trailer weight, and extra tongue weight handles better than too little, which can...

    PE 1026 is no more

I think I'm going to pull the evap canister and re-plumb the vent and overflow lines to drop out the rear of the bike. Been thinking this over for a while due to stories of heavy gas fumes from that area, and I've noticed them myself from time to time.

    Auxiliary tanks for Spyder

If the container used to carry the fuel is made for that purpose, like the MSR bottles, tourtanks, etc, safety is not compromised. "Need" depends on how often you travel far from home in unfamiliar territory, and whether you've been burned. I have been the victim of a sticking fuel level...

    Auxiliary tanks for Spyder

Use the aluminum MSR fuel bottles. Large ones are roughly one quart. Duct tape two together, carry one or two pair in the trunk as emergency fuel. They don't spill when pouring if you take it slowly. Safe for all liquid fuels. Available at camping supply outlets.

what is the dumbest question you have been asked

I was gassing up at a convenience store and the guy at the register wanted to know if Spydee was a prototype or experimental model. I explained that, though recently introduced to market, that they were well-developed and researched and produced by one of the largest powersports companies in the...
