• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    RoboBracket

I'm normally a "function over form" guy, but my first impression was that it was a bit too much like an Erector Set for me. Probably works great. I have the GIVI shield which I like quite well, but I've been thinking of adding some half-inch spacers under the shield , with longer screws, to let...

For the Newbies: Mods that Make a Difference

For performance/handling, Evoluzione's O2 eliminator (to improve engine performance at low throttle and when cold), and performance sway bar (much better handling with less body roll when cornering) are money VERY well spent.

    Canisterectomy

As has happened, apparently, in at least a few (too many?) spyders. I replaced the fuel clamp because others have observed that the fuel line was not all the way on the nipple and was loose, leading to the hose popping off and spilling A VAST QUANTITIY of fuel on hot engine parts. Since...

    Canisterectomy

Well, I finally got around to removing the evaporative canister tonight. I left the purge solenoid connected to it's electrics and the short length of hose, but plugged it with a short bolt, hose clamped in place. While in there I also replaced the forward fuel filter clamp with a screw...

    GIVI V46 topcase wiring

The GIVI-supplied lighting kit for the V46 is two lead only, either running or stop-lamp, not both. If I wire it per GIVI's instructions will the Nanny kick in? If the nanny kicks in, will I need the BUDS system to clear it from limp mode, or will it clear itself when I disconnect the wires...

    Steering Recall Webcast Aug 25

Does putting a clamp on the evap line eliminate the problem?? (or eliminating the evap system totally, which is what I'm planning, vis a vis fires).

    GIVI V46 topcase wiring

I'm helping a buddy install his V46 topcase with Givi light kit. Does the GIVI light draw enough current to make the computer cranky if I tap into the brake light wiring to feed the topcase as an auxiliary stop lamp? If so, what do I need to add to the circuit to take it to it's "happy place?"...

    "NEW" Givi E55 Maxia Trunk

Here's Givi's dedicated rack for the Spyder. Fits all their Monokey cases, including both Maxias (52L and 55L) It does require drilling/dremeling 4 oval holes in the plastic tailpiece. It is a VERY solid mount, and compliments the lines of the spyder when the bag isn't installed. Avoids the...

    busted suspension cam!!!!

Happened to mine on day one, still at the dealer, dealer watching and approving of my technique. They need lubed AND jacked, forget what the manual says. cheep pot metal cams. Save up and get the Elka's. They're well worth it. There's an option that well get you into a significant...

    Bruce Rossmeyer Killed in Montana

Sad to say, the details in the news story indicate that he would still be here for family and friends if he had not made one or more bad choices. Doubly sad when it was avoidable. I lost a brother-in-law that exact same way many years ago (passing a stopped, left-turning vehicle traveling in...

    Good News/Bad News

Went to Kissell's and had the computer update for the steering done. Kicked tires on all the beautiful new (and used) inventory of Triumph, Ducati, Kawasaki, Piaggio, Vespa, Aprilia, Genuine Scooter, and other machines. Sure am going to miss dealing with these guys for Can-Am. They're a great...

    Good News/Bad News

BRP relented slightly and is allowing Kissell's computer access for two more days, so I'm hustling my Spyder up there this afternoon for the steering update. That takes care of my only immediate problem, but still leaves my dealer, and his other customers in the lurch. It ain't right.

    Good News/Bad News

They can "service" the machine but have no access to factory parts, can't do warranty work, no BUDS system, IE all the specialized stuff that only the dealer can do. They ought to at least be allowed to do warranty and service on units they sold to original owners. This really scorches my...

    Good News/Bad News

Well, I got my recall letter for the steering firmware upgrade. The bad news is that BRP CUT OFF MY DEALER AS OF TODAY BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO BE BLACKMAILED INTO TAKING ATV INVENTORY THAT THEY KNOW THEY CAN'T SELL!!!!!!! Kissell's Motorsports in State College PA told me a month ago that they...

    Bearing loose in rear hub

Lamont, do you really think you can make up enough difference by peening to absorb that much slack? It seems REALLY loose from your video. I'm thinking the hub is shot, since it's alloy and the bearing shell is steel. Any peening is going to disappear as soon as the wheel is put into service...

BRP CALLED ME TODAY ABOUT STEERING

Does the concern about steering issues apply to both manual AND electronic shift models, or only the electronic shifters?

    I installed Evoluzione's swaybar

Everyone pretty much agrees on this one. I personally think it's on eof the "must-do" mods for safety and handling.:agree::agree::agree:

    Dealers arm-twisted to take inventory?
