• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Many Bulgaries at Spyderfest!

I seriously hope that you are kidding. By this philosophy, the girl in the short skirt is at fault for getting raped. Shame on her, she deserved it. Jim

    Foam Grip Installation

+1 for hairspray. Been doing it that way since the 60's.

    2016 RT-S and the BajaRon

We did our first group ride yesterday. I'm on the only Spyder in the bunch. The rider behind me (on a HD) says to me at the lunch stop: "what did you do to your Spyder over the winter? You're cornering a LOT flatter, and I can see a huge difference in the way your bike sits going straight down...

    Sirius Radio

Seven XM radios ?!?!?!? AAACCKKK! I'm way, way too cheap for that. I have 1, an Onyx. And I have docks in my car, the wife's car, the Spyder, my Victory, and a home kit in the garage. It's just habit, when I pick up the keys to whatever I'm going to ride / drive, I pick up the radio receiver...

    Time passages

Ahhh, the old mini-bikes. 50 odd years later, and my sister STILL gives me grief because she crashed mine. Apparently it was my fault that she wasn't listening when I told her there were no brakes, and to stop she needed to short the spark plug wire :yikes:

    Vacation again....

Well, technically, no. The Hunley was never commissioned into the Confederate Navy, and thus was officially a privateer. The official name was The H.L. Hunley (privately owned, but operated by the CS Navy) Yeah, I know, my geek is showing thru... :sour: Good link to the history though!

    Vacation again....

If you're interested in civil war history, the confederate submarine H.L. Hunley is being preserved in Charleston. Human (hand crank) powered. The first submarine to sink an enemy warship. Sat on the bottom of Charleston harbor from Feb 1864 until 2000. https://hunley.org/ Jim

places and things i will never see, because i don't travel

Bob, Well put, and very true. My tirade was directed towards the guys I know who p/moan about wanting to see places, but never manage to find the time/money/ambition to do so. Not at anyone specifically here. Enjoy life as you see fit, but ENJOY it. Jim

places and things i will never see, because i don't travel

There is absolutely no way that you can experience the world on a flatscreen. Sorry. I've been in every state conus, Canada, Mexico, etc by car and bike. 45 of those states by bike. No airplanes required. All it takes is the willingness to get off your behind, and get moving. There is no way...

    CanAm Towing system user comments?

I'd kinda like to watch that rig go down a bumpy Pennsylvania road (from a significant distance). It would be amusing but sad to watch a Spyder self destruct at speed.

    Huh?

Would you mind explaining to us non Californians? Why would a "permanent" thing be good for 5 years? And what the heck is "non-op" ??

    advice /opinions

I also would lean towards the early service. As has been said, it gives the mechanic a chance to review all the things that *could* have been missed or changed since the build / in service date. I'd consider it like this: what's the downside of doing it early? You spend the money earlier...

    Web Site Updated

Doc, Just one question / thought. Is there a reason that you don't have any prices on the website? It's kind of annoying for the casual / first time browser of your products to have to exit your site and log in to PayPal just to find out what something costs. Jim

victory motorcycle going out of business

Lamont, That's a beautiful CC you've got there. Hope that you have many miles of smiles from it. Bob is completely correct, it's what you get out of them that counts. Interesting that the F3 pulls you in the twisties. Maybe you should have gone for a Vision instead. Handles like a big...

victory motorcycle going out of business

Pete, No worries, mate. Didn't take it as a "lecture" at all. Just clarifying. I do hope that you're correct and someone steps up to supply the critical maintenance parts. I too searched for the Vision for 40 years, and it is indeed perfect. Massive amounts of legroom, incredibly comfortable...

victory motorcycle going out of business

Pete, Hello in Oz from the USofA! Thanks for the input. I'm not saying I don't understand the need to cut losses on an unprofitable line. My point was that as soon as Polaris bought the Indian name they threw in the towel on Victory. Sure, they paid lip service to it, but it was quite easy to...

victory motorcycle going out of business

Okay, some thoughts from someone who's been on Victorys since 2000 (2nd year production bike.) I still ride my 08 Vision, and also had a 07 Jackpot as a second (toy) bike. The Jackpot was sold to buy the Spyder because the wife felt more comfy on 3 wheels. If I'm riding solo, I'm on the vision...

    Solo trip advice

I gotta be honest here. If it wasn't for the whole Canada thing, I'd tell you to throw away the trip-tik, lose all the fancy planning, and just go ride. I'm a veteran of far too many solo trips to count. Last summer was 3 weeks, 8500 miles from the east coast to Arizona, North to Montana, back...

Huffy Star Wars X Wing Fighter at Wally World

Now I'll be honest here, I'm not really a Star Wars fan, and know very little about it. But I do know that I have a hard time believing this is an accurate representation of an X-Wing Fighter. Makes one wonder just what the heck happened? Did Huffy make the molds without getting the licensing...
