• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Common tools defined...

Way back when while I was awaiting a slot in a Air Traffic Controller class at NAS Millington, TN they sent us to a aircraft mechanic tool recognition class just to get us out from under foot. The Master Chief teaching the class rolls in a tool cart and held up a standard screwdriver saying...

    New windshield

Unfortunately it's not that simple. Beyond the basic quality of build that is. What works for me may be horrible for you. Lots of factors involved- arm length, body length, how aggressively you sit on the bike, height/width of the shield etc. Strangely, on my Strom the least expensive...

    How fast is your spyder

I got mine up to 340 something in a series of short tunnels. Actual speed was around 55. Made for an interesting conversation later- "Man, this is a 650?" :yikes:

    New windshield

Well, that's certainly interesting. I was wondering when somebody was going to space the shield up off the fairing & now I know. :)

    Helibars roadster risers

Is this Keith from Stromtroopers? If so, small world. Another great bunch here. :)

Helmets! What kind do you wear?

Same concept, but I wear Nolans. Did wear a N102, next will be a N103 with the internal visor.

    New Thread for Hand Warmers

Most of the items you've listed share one common element- they aren't very stiff, so when you pull your hand out they collapse. That should be less of an issue on the Spyder than on a 2-wheeler, but it's still something to think about. The Hippo Hands are the exception- they have a plastic...

Open letter to BRP. (As sent to Spyder Team)

Sad situation (parts non-availablity), but hardly uncommon. Last Fall I got a recall on the cruise control on my Ford Ranger. The initial fix was to unhook the unit. Six months later I got a call from the dealer asking me to bring the truck in so they could install the new parts.

    rox handle bar riser

The Rox risers won't work in the Spyder. The Spyder bars are held on with a central mounting point, the Rox's are designed to be used in the triple tree clamps in two mounting points. To work on the Spyder, the Rox's would have to be connected at the bottom. And you'd lose the center piece on...

    Now mine....

Now there's some pegs I could imagine using. Unlike most you see that make it look like you're riding a 55 gallon drum. ;)

'Tis a sad day in Spyder land. Condolences from my family to yours.

    Heading to San Diego today

Nothing to say that hasn't already been said. Thoughts & prayers are with you and your family. While I'm 2 states north of San Diego, if there's anything I can do... don't hesitiate to ask.

    Okay you snowmobile guys

I'll second Scotty's recommendation, at least for the Olympia Ranger 2 pants. Besides being waterproof and having a further water resistant insulated liner, the leg zipper goes all the way to the waist, making them a snap to get on/off. And the cargo pockets are on the thigh so you aren't...

    Looking for a Spyder???

And that's one of the prices you pay for early product adoption. On the plus side you get all the attention and fun of owning a fairly rare and unique vehicle. On the minus side when supply finally catches up to demand the value of used units takes a hit. :dontknow: Initially the...

Close call on the Dragon ride

Staggered left/right is pretty much the standard motorcycle protocol for group rides. I guess the stagger would be not quite so wide for Spyders though, but as Brian says it does increase your sight lines while riding.
