• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Summer Mesh Jackets --Pros/Cons

No, it's $429. The quad armor is different than the tri armor that comes with the jacket. I don't see the advantage so stuck with the tri armor. I did pay for the liner which comes in two parts the one part is waterproof for rain and the other insulated making it a 4 season jacket. It's custom...

    Summer Mesh Jackets --Pros/Cons

Motoport Ultramesh II I use this one in grey and black without the top pockets. It's Kevlar and won't fall apart if you hit the asphalt. Yet, if you hold it up to the light you can see thru it everywhere. Even the armor is perforated. Cool as long as you're moving.:D

    Is This Normal?

Depending entirely on how I decelerate, brake or manually downshift I can either make it clunk or not. You've probably subtly changed your driving, and like me, as you become accustomed to the Spyder ride your focus changes from the riding experience to noticing all the new noises that the...

    The Steering Issue, Some Observations...

    1. It doesn't affect many Spyders. 2. When affected Spyders get their DPS unit replaced, the new unit seems to have a high failure rate as reported by BUDS requiring the order of another unit. 3. These two observations are at odds with each other. Either the factory that produces the DPS is...

MadStad or CHAD: Has the jury reached a verdictd?

I've had the Cal-Sci, still have the CHAD and Madstad. Chad for winter, better overall protection. Madstad for summer, keeps the majority of the wind off you with good circulation. The Cal-Sci might work well for shorter people but it just had too much buffeting for me. I'm 6' and sit tall in...

No Luck at installation of adjustable bars

You need to take off enough tupperware to follow the wires. Invariably there's a tie that needs to be cut so that you can get enough slack.

    Windshield Advice Please!

Masking tape on both sides of the windshield before drilling and you can use a regular bit. Drill with only light pressure and it'll be OK

    docdoru ...SFB floor boards

Haven't ridden in the rain with them but they are milled with sharp edges on the floorboards and there are small pins on the pegs that will hold your shoes. I think that they'll be OK in the wet.

    docdoru ...SFB floor boards

When I ordered them they told me that it would be a while before they came. When I inquired about when to expect them after waiting for a couple of weeks they said that they were waiting for the anodizing which they don't do and it would be a couple of more weeks as anodizer was backed up with...

    Belt tension and the Krikit

There's a magic number but we don't know what it corresponds to on the BRP meter. My belt when new from the factory measured at 250 on the krikit which was a common reading from others at the time. Since the new standard is about 1/2 of the old reading I just went for 125 but ended up at 140...

    TWO positive notes

:agree: I'd take one in plain smooth anodized black in a heartbeat.

    Loose Ends.....

When I tie down the duffle on the back of the Spyder I end up with loose ends on the tie down straps that flap in the wind. Typically I just tie the loose ends down to the straps with overhand knots. Is there a more elegant solution?

    Service Bulletin: Belt Tension

I lowered the tension on mine to about 140 ft/lbs (by Krikit) but can't/won't ride until the thunderstorms pass by :D

Fuel Cap Lacking a Tether... Anybody Has a Mod for that?

When I refuel I place the cap immediately to the right, under the seat. That way I can't put the seat down unless the cap is on and it's got no where to roll. You're not going to get the story out of me (short of waterboarding) about why this habit came about.:D.....but somewhere there's a gas...

    Instead of canisterectomy I tried

I thought about all that when I wrote the comment.....still I remember something about collapsed tanks on BMWs in relation to the gas cannister and it occasionally producing vacuums sufficient to collapse the tank. http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24731 Simple to remove the canister...

    Instead of canisterectomy I tried

The problem with check valves is that after a hot day the vacuum that develops when it cools down may just collapse your tank.:yikes:

    Heat sink paste

Rotax requires it on their aircraft engines as well. The Radio Shack stuff has the exact same specs as the BRP stuff.:2thumbs:
