• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    JUST READ THIS

Southern California I live in Ventura, which is kind of on the northern end of Southern California, or the southern end of Central California depending on how you look at it. I know of only two other Spyders in the Ventura/Oxnard area and even when I go down to L.A. rarely see another Spyder...

    Best Streak-free WINDSHIELD Cleaner

windshield I use West Marine plexiglass polish on my helmet face plates and used to use it on my blueridge before I replaced it with a F4. It's fairly expensive, but I've been using the same spray can for almost a year and it's still almost full. A little goes a long way and it not only...

    Licensing requirements by State

California Boy, for once California's laws are less stringent than other states. It's a good thing that states have to respect reciprocity so I don't need a different license to ride outside my home state.

    riding in Colorado

Gold Camp Road There is a great road that runs from Colorado Springs to Cripple Creek/Leadville called Gold Camp Road. It's an old D&RGW right of way. I drove it in a car when I was stationed at Fort Carson in the late seventies and remember just how beautiful it was. I'd bet it's...

    Another newbie.

Me too That's what I bought my F3 for. I tow it behind my Class C, but contrary to my expectations, I use it around town more than the car now. One thing I did was to have a custom upholstery company make a towing bra for the bike. The cover scuffed the frunk paint because it wasn't tight...

    EPA & Ethonal!

Indy cars Indy cars run on pure alcohol. That's why you can't see the fires that happen in the pit. All you see is the driver suddenly bolting from the car.

    Helmet Style

helmet My wife and I wear Scorpion EXO 250s. 3/4s with sun visor and clear over-visor. My wife can't stand a full face, too confining.

    Filling the Gas Tank?

short filler neck On my F3 I fill it sitting on the saddle and hold the EPA sleeve back so I can see into the tank. I fill it to the bottom of the filler ring. It's slow and sometimes messy, but if I just stick the nozzle in I only get 3/4 of a tank. It's my main gripe about the F3 design...

I wonder where the HD riders are going?

harley owners I was talking to a long-time Harley owner a couple of weeks ago and he was very dissatisfied with his newest Harley. It's about three years old and all the parts are made in China or Taiwan. He says they don't hold up like the older made in USA parts. He bought the Harley...

    Blue Ridge Height

low The Blue Ridge is very low. What distortion I saw was right the the "flip" on the top. I'm six two and on the freeway the turbulence hit me below the neck. I went to a 32" F4 and it works just fine. With the F4, at any speed lower than seventy, I don't even need my helmet face plate...

    New F3S owner question

f3a You don't need a vent, the bottom of the windshield is well clear of the bodywork. That's the venting. The Blue Ridge for BRC is the same way.

    After the Ryde.......

car wash Does anyone else use a car wash? I was told to wash the Spyder by hand when I bought it. I've been using Hondabrite and rinsing then blowing all the water out with a compressor. Spraying it down at a car wash would be a lot easier on the knees.

    Spyder Accidents

Illegals That's why they made it illegal for Illegal Aliens to drive a couple of decades ago. Unfortunately the California electorate has forgotten that expensive lesson and allowed Illegal Aliens to get licenses again.

Well, I'm still doing dumb things

speed limit If the LEO used RADAR to clock you, you can get a court order for the LEOs to release the RADAR speed limit. It's set by averaging actual driver speed, not statute. It's usually quite a bit higher that the posted limit (at least in California)

    Trailering a F3L

additional straps You can also use tie downs to keep the bike from moving side to side as the trailer bounces. I used to just strap it down back to front, now I add additional straps from each front wheel to a hardpoint on the same side to prevent lateral movement on the trailer.

Sooooo I did a demo ryde last Saturday

disagree I certainly don't find my F3 acting that way and I'm running the base shocks with no suspension mods. There must be something wrong with that guy's Spyder.

    Fuel Gauge

fuel filler The fuel filler is my only major complaint about my F3. I always wind up spilling some gas while holding the nozzle above the filler ring. Most gas pumps in California have vapor recovery systems and the controls start at on or off, then increase flow.
