• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I didn't realize how funny Prince Phillip (of G.B.) was....

Thanks for that link. Not only served with distinction in WWII and always remembered the veterans. Funny how a prominent individual's life resonates with ours on some level sometimes. A class act that I know will not be repeated in my lifetime.

Coolant question - would you use Honda Type 2 in your Spyder?

I completely agree. Honda coolant, formulated for aluminum engines will perform well and is widely available. And as stated, a through flush and clean. Planning on doing that my own self upon pending radiator replacement. David

Anyone tried "Speed Bleeders" brake bleeders?

+1 on Speedbleeders. Just replaced rear pads and flushed. IMHO worth a try. David

998cc Radiator - solder or weld a patch in place of the bung (broken)?

Ahem, the epoxy broke off clean, and was cleaned from the original bung. The original repair must have been in there a good five years (roadster is a 2011 with close to 64 K miles) Cheapcycle parts is a no go as well. I might try a larger insert, like an oversized drain bolt, that will be flanged...

998cc Radiator - solder or weld a patch in place of the bung (broken)?

Some time back, I had wrung the bung completely out of the radiator in the process of changing coolant. Shrugged shoulders, JB welded the piece in and all was good for a number of years. This last summer, the repair failed and I haven’t been able to get it to stick back in there since, and stop...

    Bleeding/flushing brake fluid.

Speed leaders are metric thread, but wrench size is 5/16th. At least, that’s the deep well 6 pt size that worked on my rear caliper. David

    Full Tank of Fuel

While agreeing with the potential for fuel pump damage when attempting to determine your fuel capacity, this is almost as much fun as an oil thread. David

    BP's Ultimate Grade Gas

Speaking of F150s, mine is a 2017 with the 2.7. If I'm staying around town its regular 87 octane. Ethanol free when I can find it, otherwise it gets treatment. On the highway , or towing , it's the highest grade I can find at the pump. Usually Exxon 93 octane because I take advantage of their...

    Rain riding

Our first long trip with our roadster was summer of 2011. Enroute, and less than 20 miles from Mammoth Cave,in the dark, a microburst had me depending on the fog lines to see where we were in the lane. I slowed down considerably, just wanted to get to our room after a long day. There were...

    Over heating at idle

My Spyder did the exact same thing some years ago. Culprit was a pinhole leak in the overflow tank. In fact,it pinhole leaked square in my face. Replaced with new and it hasn’t done it since. I assume on an RSS, lots less Tupperware, might be readily obvious. David

How difficult is it to install a cigarette lighter plug for Garmin GPS.

I have a 2011 roadster, and my plug is under the seat, to the SAE connector for the battery tender. Lives in the void under the glovebox. When not in use, wiring coils up under the seat and SAE connector is ready for tender. So far the rig has been waterproof, and in use since 2011. Not sure what...

    Spyder vs Goldwing passenger seating

Our machine is a 2011 RTS. After tinkering with footrest placement and adding armrests, wife has been known to nap whilst on the slab. Oh, she hated the Wing, probably because of my right wrist. David

    RT rear shock and airbag

What kind of Elka? In the midst of repairing my air ride system, fried compressor and all. Replaced all push fittings, that repaired the initial leak. What is meant by compression fittings, and how to they adapt to the fittings such as the 90 deg elbow atop the airbag? Intentions now are to do...

Where to get alignment in South Carolina

Take your Spyder to Velocity in Ladson at your own risk. Never have I seen a dealership, three or four wheeled that the quality and outcome of the work depended on who was working that day.Yes,I purchased mine there in 2011. Worth a try to contact Columbia power sports in Columbia. My opinion...
