• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Extended Warranties. To purchase or not to purchase ?

Best Now Available in Florida??? Earlier today I was on BRPs website reviewing the info on the Best and Best Plus plans when I noticed a link to Florida coverage (http://en-us.spyder.brp.com/Files/en-US/Pdf/BEST_Protection_Florida.pdf). The only difference between that page and the non-Florida...

    Check Engine-Cause and Effect?

Does this problem occur with both the 2010 and 2011 RT models? Thanks. Mike

    Another Broken Exhaust Pipe

I did a search and found two fairly recent threads about RT exhaust pipes breaking at the welded joint below and in front of the gas tank. I have also just experienced this, the pipe breaking completely in half as shown in the picture. My RT began sounding like a straight piped Harley and when...

    Rear tire wear

A few days ago I had a discussion with a friend who is very knowledgable about tires regarding the rapid tire wear I had experienced with the stock Kenda. He commented that although we are accustomed to attributing excessive center tread wear to high tire pressures and excessive peripheral wear...

    Brake Light Strobe Question

Thanks for the info. Does your light work as both a brake and running light, or as a brake light only? Mike

    Brake Light Strobe Question

Does anyone know of a brake light strobe/flasher that's compatible with the Custom Dynamics Street Magic Genesis RT HMT rear tailight that's using the optional Brake Light Dual Converter Unit, making it both a running light and brake light? I have a Radiatz 6104 strobe/flasher that will not...

    Nut Rubbing Frame Vibration Question

A final followup to my original post on this thread. The dealer did find that the nut was rubbing the frame, as has been widely reported, and ground the recess in the frame per BRPs instructions, all covered by warranty. As everyone else has reported, the vibration between about 4600 and 5500...

The dumbest comment / question I've heard...

I've only had my RT for 2 1/2 months and 5300 miles, but so far the dumbest question has been "Does that have an electric motor!!" Mike

Belt Tension Measurement With Krikit II?

Duane, Yes, that's exactly what I purchased. It seems to work well - the results were very consistent over several readings. Mike

Belt Tension Measurement With Krikit II?

Duane, The NAPA invoice lists the part number as KR-2, line NBH. It also says 7401-0102 on the box it came in. My local NAPA store didn't have a notion as to what a Krikit was and had to call somewhere to get the part number, then order it, although it only took overnight for them to get it...

Belt Tension Measurement With Krikit II?

I know this has been covered in past threads, and I have read several, but I'm still somewhat confused about the procedure for measuring the belt tension with the Krikit II from NAPA. Sorry if this is redundant. Should the rear wheel be off the ground, as in the procedure with the BRP gauge...

    Works Shocks Question

Your experience with the performance of your Works Performance shocks (no pun intended ;)! ) is similar to mine. Mine arrived with the compression damping set on the lowest setting and after some experimentation I've been using a mid-level setting. WP strongly advised against changing the...

    Nut Rubbing Frame Vibration Question

A followup on this issue. After taking off most of the left side bodywork I was able to see the nut and it is probably rubbing. It's difficult to determine with certainty because I can't see the side of the nut next to the frame, but it is certainly very close and likely touching. I discussed...

    Nut Rubbing Frame Vibration Question

Thanks to all of you for your advice on this problem. I will attempt to get a look at the nut this weekend (hopefully with minimal disassembly and a mirror) and contact my dealer if I see evidence of rubbing. Mike

    Works Shocks Question

Yes, that is indeed quite an explanation! But it doesn't explain why multiple phone calls with voice mails left for different WP personnel were never returned in my case, these calls and messages being made both by me and my dealer. That included a one or two made to Tom Edison. If it's due...

    Nut Rubbing Frame Vibration Question

I may have missed this in all the posts on this problem, but is there any possible way to visualize the nut to determine if it's rubbing without all the body part removal? Just enough to see if it's actually rubbing or not, possibly with a dentist type small mirror, etc.? I'm guessing there...

    139HP Rotax motor

My understanding is (and I certainly may be wrong) that the engine in our Spyders is a retuned version of the Rotax engine Aprilia uses in their Tuono and Mille sport bikes, very light, high performance bikes. The Rotax in the Spyders is supposedly tuned for less peak horsepower and more low...

    Works Shocks Question

In my case it was six weeks, and that was with either overnight or two day shipping. I posted my experience with Works Performance a few days ago at http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27414 Mike

    help

I have no experience hauling a spider in an enclosed trailer but it sounds like width clearance is an issue with an RT and a two wheeler. A solution to this might be a snowmobile trailer, these typically being 8 feet wide instead of the typical 7 foot for other trailers. I can easily get two...
