• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Secret Rotex ?

It's not unheard of, Harley did that during the first 2 years of V-Rod production because there were specialty tools and training needed. I believe they are currently doing that for the Rotax sourced Buell motors. Chevy did it for the entire production run of the ZR1 because the motor was...

Throttle Lock Cruise Assists Now In Stock!

I imagine that if you have the KewlMetal bars, which are a standard 7/8 bar, then you don't need these Spyder specific units?

What is the Coolest thing you like about your Spyder?

What, ME WORRY, NEVER :yikes: :roflblack: Being able to take the rides to nowhere with my best friend knowing she's now enjoying the ride as much as I am. Oh, one more thing, taking a break and recapping the last part of the ride with an active participant rather than a passive observer and...

    Need Sparate Fan Control Switch

Switching ground through the ECM seems to be common practice with European wiring schemes, I've seen my share of odd grounding systems on older Porsche's. I double checked and the + side of the fan relay is always hot, it's not switched. The only way to make it fool proof would be to power a...

    Insurance renewal

Not sure if they can write in Mass but they know the ins and outs of Spyder Insurance. http://www.bikersins.com/spyder_ryders.html Another thing to check is how they have the Spyder rated. Allstate's default type is Sport Bike. I challenged that and got it rated as Sport Touring. That cut...

    ISCI Running Boards ?

All of the things posted are both driver, passenger and specialty brackets. There's also talk about highway pegs and brake systems so who knows what just the driver boards will cost. Regardless, I can do Kuryakyn, Cobra or Rivco for a quarter the price IF we decide we want some but I'm sure...

Starting issue? (as in nada, nothing, all quiet)

Have you tried pulling in the clutch and stepping on the brake? On the SE5 it will only start in gear of the brake is pressed.

    Disappointed SE5 08

One other point I've been thinking about but I've never seen commented on. BRP has a demo fleet with a number of SE5's that are most likely subjected to a lot more abuse than most here would put their bikes through. I would think that systemic problems with the design would have shown up there...

    Disappointed SE5 08

It's amazing how the Honda "Myth" of quality has permeated our society. They have done such a masterful job of marketing that people mistake that for reality. If you pull back the covers you see that Honda, although a very good company, has roughly the same amount of warranty issues with some...

My 600 Mile Service Results – Your opinion?

To clarify a little, the cap is a screw type with the "clicker" feature to prevent you from over tightening it. It turns about 2 revolutions before it bottoms out and you get a "click". What happened on ours was I probably cross threaded it so it only made about 1/2 a turn before it clicked...

    ISCI Running Boards ?

$1100 for 2 floorboards and a brake peddle extension! That's beyond ridiculous and I suspect they will not be in the Spyder accessory business long with that kind of pricing. The absolute most I would expect to pay would be about $350 and even that's borderline.

CHAD mod- from No Magic Neon

I know, I already read that, that's why I commented. I thought they would be too short at first glance as well but when they are tightened down the bolt comes flush with the back of the nut and has a nice, clean look which is I suppose why they spec'd this particular length. I think it's...

CHAD mod- from No Magic Neon

I just got the CHAD this afternoon from the big brown truck and I have a few comments on the installation. First, I used the stock bolts to hold down the plate and the supplied bolts to attach the windshield. I can see how they seem short but properly tightened down the threads come right to...

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

Sure, it won't hurt and I wasn't trying to start a debate. I'm an engineer and as such I tend to like to know why I'm doing something. Also, if that something has no effect then I tend to not do it. I'm just anal that way :ohyea: BTW, just pop the 40 AMP main fuse, it's a lot easier than...

    Need Sparate Fan Control Switch

I don't think that would work, power is applied to the fan relay at all times, the ECM supplies ground to close the relay and switch power to the fan. Like Lamont said, all you need to do is run a separate switched line to the ECM side of the fan relay to simulate the ECM applying ground. I...

    Spyder Fairing

Don't get me wrong, I actually like the fairing with some simple modifications like a black cross bar on the front and a less rounded windscreen. It's the other tacked on crap that makes the bike look tacky (IMHO).

    Spyder Fairing

The faring is interesting but the rest of the bike is hideous! Looks like some pimp mobile........ I'm surprised they didn't try to fit 24" rims with spinners.

Considering a new exhaust?...read this!! Aftermarket exhaust problem solved!!

Yes, the ECM has flattened the learned portion to match the constant signal. What I meant was it hasn't learned anything regarding your particular config. As for learning outside the closed loop area that's correct but confusing. Although the area where learned values are kept spreads between...

    2-Bros juice Box & Ken's O2 Modifier

Just a thought here but do most of you realize that whenever you are past 3/4 throttle and / or under high engine load conditions you are not in closed loop and the O2 sensor data is discarded? Nothing is EVER learned for those areas of the map regardless of the pipe or ECM piggyback system...
