• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Ear / Hearing Protection

Even though a Spyder is quiet compared to other bikes with pipes the main culprit of hearing loss exists. Wind noise. A lot of inexpensive helmets and some pricey ones don't offer much protection. I have always ridden bikes with stock pipes and worn ear plugs. An example: We were riding 500...

Summer riding / mesh overpants advice

I tried to put on a jacket at the IMS last weekend. I agree that it is high quality gear. My problem with it is that it is European sizing. I typically wear a size XL. I could barely get a 2XL coat zipped up. Another small issue but a non starter for me is that the zipper is on the wrong side. I...

Summer riding / mesh overpants advice

Here is my 2 cents worth: To start out, I ride close to 20K miles each year. I started out with an inexpensive pair of 6th Gear mesh pants. They lasted 1 year and were done. I bought a pair of Tourmaster Caliber pants for cold weather riding. They lasted 2 seasons before the liners gave out. I...

    Riding jeans

I would agree with you on riding pants. Jeans are much hotter in the summer riding season. A good pair on Olympia Air Glide pants are much more comfortable.

    Headlight flashing

My wife follows me with her 2018 RT when we ride. Is it common for the headlights to act like they are flashing high beam when she hits a bump?

    Sena RC-4 Handlebar Remote

I have the original handlebar remote and have the same problem. It will clip on the dash or it has to be stored in the glove box. Mu guess is that the RC-4 has to be on a pipe of some kind due to the new shape.

    Any suggestions on Keeping Warm?

You are a lucky one to be able to go non electric. I got hypothermia a few years back riding at 50 degrees. trust me when I tell you that you never want that to happen. I didn't know it was happening and almost took a car out that was turning left in front of me. I took a gravel shoulder and...

    Any suggestions on Keeping Warm?

You can always buy a battery operated heated jacket. My shop maintenance guy wears one all winter. That, or you could move to a warmer climate. :joke:

    Any suggestions on Keeping Warm?

We ride all the time in variable temps. We have Venture heated jackets. Another trick of cool riding with a mesh jacket is to put the rain jacket on the outside of the mesh. It adds another layer of insulation between the wind layer and skin. With temps like you are asking about, I would...

    New Chapter of life

Congratulations on the retirement. If you are up for it, take HWY 50 back coast to coast. From DC to California. Or there is also HWY 6. Enjoy the trip!

Anyone mounted a Rearview Camera on RT Ltd? What type?

He asked about a backup camera, not a full blown security system to monitor all activities.

Anyone mounted a Rearview Camera on RT Ltd? What type?

For not very much money, you can sure try one. I think the only issue would be to make it waterproof...

    REAR TRUNK BAGS

I have had Hopnel Bags on other bikes. For the RT my wife bought the Bestem brand bags. She found them on Amazon but ordered from their website as they were considerably less expensive that way. I also bought a set for my BMW and have to say the quality is top notch.

    Chaps or Riding Pants?

I am an ATGATT rider myself. I am also in the Hi-Viz camp. One thing we ATGATT riders do have to remember that it is a freedom of choice decision for all riders.

    Chaps or Riding Pants?

This is a serious question. How do you right in that suit when the temps get in the upper 90's? Even the upper 80's for that matter? I have a non mesh jacket and at 70 degrees I absolutely bake.

    Chaps or Riding Pants?

You are kind of asking an apples and oranges question. Are you looking for protection or warmth? Chaps offer very little protection in a crash were riding pants typically have armor in the knees, shins and hips. I started riding again in 2008 and bought a pair of chaps. After a year I moved to...
