• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Only One Oil Plug on 2024 RT?

Yes, as shown in the fiche screenshots of my previous post, the clutch side drain plug is magnetic. Why BRP doesn't spend the $0.02 to put a magnet on the other drain plug is beyond me. But there you are. It also tells you where BRP engineers think most of the ferrous wear material will be...

Anyone riding 2up on their Ryker? Need a decent seat & backrest, so - Ryker or Spyder RT?

You should test ride them. You can get a Ryker to work with 2 people. You can also get 2 people on a crotch rocket. Doesn't mean that's what you're going to enjoy.

What do you think of these Ramps for loading a Spyder onto an aluminum utility trailer?

The main thing to guard against, assuming clearance is not an issue, is the ramp kicking out and off of the trailer. Be sure the ramps cannot come off the trailer. Otherwise, you should be good to go. The Spyder is heavy, but it distributes the weight over 3 wheels. I doubt you will exceed 500...

Only One Oil Plug on 2024 RT?

Wow! Just Wow! I understand that they might feel that since they pulled the magnet side that it would show any abnormal wear, etc. But the engine side will drain more oil than the trans side. They are not changing your oil with this approach. They are just checking the magnet and the partial...

At what RPM do you shift on a 988 RSS for mileage

Again, this is true of the SE5 (though full lockup is just below 3,500 RPM) but it's not true of the manual SM5, which will give you full clutch lockup as soon as you release the clutch lever.

At what RPM do you shift on a 988 RSS for mileage

"I have a 2016 SM6 RSS". No such thing, which I see that Peter has already pointed out. We get this all the time at the shop where owners mix up the various models specs. It can be confusing when first getting started. But there is a world of difference between the SM/SE5 and the SM/SE6...

F3s Travel cover needed - any recommendations on which is best?

Either use a box trailer or leave it uncovered. You can put a piece of plywood (securely attached) in front of it if you want to protect against pebble dings. But anything that flaps (and a fabric cover will certainly do this), will damage the paint/plastic. You can wash the bugs off. You can't...

What is your opinion on the plastic oil pump gears?

Not sure they could get away with a nylon gear in a aircraft motor. A bit more riding on components in that application. Rare oil pump failure is probably not so acceptable in a plane. It would be interesting to know, though, what they do use in those engines.

Is there a way to put the dash into Accessories mode?

OK, sorry, wasn't clear on that. Looks like you've gotten your answer. Good luck!

Does anyone leave the parking brake off during winter storage? And some rodent protection discussion...

The one thing that you might want to consider is that if you set the parking brake over the winter, and your battery is too low to start the bike. You'll not be able to move it without disconnecting the parking brake hardware.

Is there a way to put the dash into Accessories mode?

What, exactly, are you trying to accomplish?

What is your opinion on the plastic oil pump gears?

You're right. Engineers chose the material for a reason. Working against relatively low resistance, running in oil, quieter, potentially less wear, (you're not going to get the typical metal on metal results), and less expensive than a steel gear. They work very well, it's a good material for...

G'day from Down Under - what to look for in a high milage Spyder?

It's general advice and should apply to any Spyder you consider. BRP finally fazed out the manual versions. I guess they just were not selling as well. I ride various Spyders all the time (test rides of customers bikes we work on). And I prefer the manual shift. The more aggress you are, the...

Have you had your V-Twin's Valve clearance adjustment done? What milage? How long did it take?

Valve adjustment on the 998 V-Twin is very rarely needed at any mileage. We've never done one at the shop. It's just not necessary. Update: I never forget, I just remember late sometimes. We did do a valve adjustment on a V-Twin Spyder once. The customer insisted that we do it because the book...

Does anyone leave the parking brake off during winter storage? And some rodent protection discussion...

I always do if it is an SM. I leave it in gear instead. It depends for an SE. But for winter storage, I'd leave it off. Though I'm not sure there is any benefit to it.

G'day from Down Under - what to look for in a high milage Spyder?

I'm with Peter. 60K on the odometer isn't a big deal if the bike has been maintained. I hope he got his monies worth for the $3K service. I'd ask to see the itemized service bill to see what got taken care of. That will give you an idea of what doesn't need attention and what might need looking...

    The bells are finally gone!!!!

It's like Christmas. I enjoy it while it's here but don't expect it to last all year long. I'll be fine. Today I'm hoping for the snow they keep promising. I'll probably be disappointed again. The weather man is the only one I know who can be wrong most of the time and still get paid for it...

Has anyone worked out how to improve a 2024 RTL Sea to Sky FM Radio Antenna?

First, make sure it's hooked up. We've found several Spyders where the dealer never made the antenna connection. It's part of the setup that you probably paid extra for.

Dash went black & I couldn't shift - blown fuse! No idea why...

Cramming the connection void full of dielectric grease for terminals that see weather is a very good idea. It doesn't hurt to fill it until the grease squirts out the side, if needed, and just wipe off the extra. Just putting a little on the pins is not nearly as fool proof.
