• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    $&&*=#% snow!!

    I'd say we are about a month behind on the temperatures...more on the continuous snow cover. It is tough all over this year. What I wouldn't give to see a forsythia blossom or a tulip or daffodil.

    New ST Owner wondering about break in.

    :agree: Go by your manual.....and worry about the dealer. If it was the salesman who told you that, write it off, they are often poorly informed. If it was the service department, I'd be searching for another dealer.

    $&&*=#% snow!!

    You did well. It's tougher on this side of the state. The ice didn't leave our driveway altogether until this Tuesday. The street is still narrowed by snow piles, and only about 1/3 of the yard shows bare ground. At the new house project the lot is still 80% snow covered, and what isn't snow...

    Earplugs

    There is some, but it is not excessive. I turn up my volume two notches with the plugs in. You actually can make out what is said much better, because most of the noise is removed. I resisted wearing earplugs for a long time, but when I finally tried them I was converted for life. I might...

    Headset Recommendations?

    My favorites would be the Starcom1 for a wired system or the SENA for wireless. They probably have capabilities beyond your desires, but they are the best working alternatives. Besides the intercom it is nice to have some music in your helmets. Just connect an iPod and go...or rig it up to...

    battery tender

    That is true for 2013 and 2014, but not earlier. The 2010-2012 RTs were hot all the time, with no option.

    "BRAKE FAILURE" What to do?

    There are several possibilities, TB. As you have gathered, it is pretty difficult to pick through them without inspecting your Spyder or at least knowing the active fault codes. Could be low brake fluid, a secondary issue related to worn brake pads, brake pressure failure, or a parking brake...

    Earplugs

    Even with a full-faced helmet noise levels can exceed levels allowed by OSHA for industry. Earplugs are good for protecting your long-term hearing if you ride.

    I learned to drive in a Model A...I love them. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

    OEM Trailer Hitch with 4 Pin Square Plug to after market trailer with 4 pin flat plug

    You need someone familiar with trailer wiring to help you. The backwards stuff is merely the wrong wires hooked up (reversed functions), swap the wires and it should be right. Only one running light sounds like you blew the other bulb. If not, one wire has become disconnected within the...

    Service Bulletin

    Amen, brother! I learned long ago that carrying a credit card and some cash will get you home somehow, or get you back on the road. The unknown is part of the adventure...like trying to drive a Model A across the continent back in the 30's (or riding a Triumph to Michigan's UP in the 60's)...

    Earplugs

    We wear earplugs all the time using our Starcom1 comm system. You may have to adjust the system volume a bit. Be sure both of you are wearing them or both are not, otherwise the volume is loud for one and low for the other.

    Trailer Tie Downs

    I made some tubular pads by folding a microfiber towel in half, then in half again and sewing the open side shut. Easily slipped over the tie-downs, cheap, and the wheels have never been harmed. The wheels also get one little part cleaned in the process. ;)

    OEM Trailer Hitch with 4 Pin Square Plug to after market trailer with 4 pin flat plug

    BRPs hitch does use a standard wiring pattern and colors. Apparently your trailer does not. The best answer in that case is to purchase a square-4 pigtail and a flat-4 pigtail and make your own adapter. Swap the wires around until everything works correctly, then solder and heat-shrink the...

    2014 RTL PULLING TO THE RIGHT?

    Having exhausted all other, more likely possibilities, it could be that one front brake is dragging. Check to see if one rotor is significantly hotter thatn the other after long runs, or if the brake pads on one side are worn significantly more than the other side.

    Trailer Tie Downs

    :lecturef_smilie: You had better read your manual again. The only approved way to tie down a Spyder is through the wheels. Using the a-arms can cause serious damage.

    I'd rattle your dealer's cage. I don't know about now, but the fuel filters I bought came with clamps.

    Earplugs

    I have much the same problem. I even wear my glasses elevated above my ears because they hurt otherwise. I also have very tiny earholes, so even the moldable plugs or the smallest available silicon ones bother me. Try the Big Ear custom plugs, or one of the alternative products. I have no...
