• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Vredestein tires

The Vreds are an amazing wet tire. On my recent Saddlesore 1000 Challenge to SD, I was forced to stop to put on rain gear in what I consider moderate + rain. With 25,500 miles on all tires, I was able to resume 65+ mph for around 12 miles with zero concerns. The sound of water getting pushed...

1330 and Gas Mileage Review - What's yours? Anyone else tracking theirs?

My data since I purchased it 48 months ago and 47,649 miles. 1,257.7 gal used so 37.89mpg. $5,022.35 spent on fuel so $.105 per mile. $/gal is $3.993. A mixture of 87-93 octane and probably 25%/75% 2up/1up.

What's the easiest way of Lubing rear bag cables on '21 RTL?

On my '16, I had to beat on the bag to get it to open while pulling on the handle. After cleaning and lubing the latch, they now open first pull. My cables have never been lubed and pull with very little resistance. Mine were the latches.

Gas Gauge showing Full when tank is not - Why?

My analog gauge is ultra consistent. At 3/4 I have gone 70 miles, 1/2 120, 1/4 170, light comes on around 200. One station in MO where the apron slopes with the rear tire down and the right side is lower the numbers are 100, 150, 200 and light comes on around 225. I work to get it topped off...

What General Maintenance is needed at 30k miles - 2017 F3Ltd?

Mine has an 'every 28,000-mile service' list and I assume yours should be the same. 1. Replace the HCM filter (SE6 model only. 2. Replace canister pre-filter. I was able to take mine apart and clean it. 3. Replace fuel filter (or every 5 years) 4. Replace engine coolant (or every 5 years) 5...

Any idea of Long term costs? What sort of mileage will things need replacing?

My Spyder has only been to the dealership 3 times in its life and I am closing in on 50,000 miles. The previous owner had the first service done at the dealership and then had the front tires replaced because they were out of round (OEM Kendas). I had the front sprocket recall performed by my...

Surprising Price Differences for Spyder oil changes in San Diego!

Since the oil is used for the engine, clutch, and gearbox the 15w40 will likely hold the 40 viscosity better over the life of the oil as the gearbox does the majority of the damage to the viscosity. Just drive conservatively at first then have at it.

Any of you made your own Radiator (grill) covers? Any pics/instructions?

I made mine also from fine mesh stainless steel screen. I didn't think the Kott grills would stop the all the smaller bugs. I took my frunk apart and sandwiched them in-between where the factory screens are. I also put screen in front of the factory screens.

998cc Anyone help - looks like I'm Losing Coolant & something is dripping under the Spyder?

Is the hose in question supposed to be hooked to the air box to reburn the blowby from the crankcase?

998cc Anyone help - looks like I'm Losing Coolant & something is dripping under the Spyder?

Couple of things here. The coolant system is a pressure system and the cap determines at what pressure the system relieves itself. The higher the pressure the higher the boiling point of the coolant which is good. Temperature also causes the coolant to expand so hot coolant will show a higher...

Downshifting techniques, I need your advice on best technique?

I agree with the gearbox break-in. I downshift mine every time. I use speed. Quick twist of throttle and then 50-55 go to 5th, 45-50 4th, 3rd at below 40, ect. Mine is seamless every time and I keep the rpms up just in case I need to do some emergency manuvere. Probably slightly decreasing the...
